Mrs Coulter has most recently been volunteering with the Mobility Aids Service in Oxfordshire, but her career with the charity has been wide-ranging, from helping out at the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017 to meeting the Royal Family.

Her favourite part of volunteering has been providing emotional and practical support to people during emergencies, from floods to fires.

Mrs Coulter said: The emergency part is what I really liked. Id get up at 2am, 4amand get my car from the garage.

I was never afraid - I think the adrenaline was going.

Mrs Coulter first joined the British Red Cross on 30th May 1958 and said that helping people has always appealed to her.

She chose to work as a receptionist in a hospital for 40 years alongside her volunteering.

I loved my job at the hospital because I was working with patients, and I loved the British Red Cross too because it was about helping people as well, she said.

One of her favourite moments was meeting the Royal Family while volunteering with the British Red Cross.

She was selected to take part in a picnic with Princess Anne at The Mall after celebrating her 50th anniversary with the British Red Cross, and she has kept her picnic basket as a souvenir.

My part of The Mall was by Princess Anne and her husband. Princess Anne came over and was talking to us really nicely, she knew so much about everything, she said.

Ignazio Ferrara, service delivery coordinator for the British Red Crosss Mobility Aids Service in Oxfordshire, who worked with Mrs Coulter said: On first meeting Ann, I was struck by her absolute commitment to The Red Cross and her meticulous attention to detail.

She took her role very seriously and treated everyone with great care.

Ann has the ability to engage in a conversation with anyone and more importantly, to listen attentively.

She is a softly spoken lady but quite strong willed.

During my initial training she often reminded me when I didnt follow the correct procedure and untilher last day picked up on even the tiniest of details she can be very persistent at times but is larger than life and has been a great ambassador for the service.

She cares passionately and I consider myself lucky to know Ann, I am continually humbled by her achievements, both past and present.
