This AI Project Bridges Deepfakes to the Crypto Space – Investing.com India

With the advent of advanced models of artificial intelligence (AI), the technology space is evolving rapidly with revolutionary innovations. Out of them all, deepfakes, tech-enabled mimicries, and the synthetic media hold major hype and concern as the controversial technology trends of the decade.

Deepfake technology generates altered videos, images, or audio of real people combinedly using AI along with machine learning (ML), and facial mapping. Monetizing deepfakes was quite a rare attempt before 2020, as it garnered negative criticisms and warnings. However, nowadays some AI projects leverage this technology to open up economic value and new modes of content creation.

The AI project in the crypto industry, DeepFakeAI, gained fame among the community for its superimposed videos of Tesla (NASDAQ:) CEO Elon Musk, the SEO Chair Gary Gensler, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ), and co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

Notably, the platform facilitates users to customize and create AI-generated videos through deepfake technology. Users could gain access to the platforms services through a native bot on Telegram or a web API on their website.

The process of developing deepfake videos on the platform is fast-paced and cost-effective. Initially, an AI voice is generated and fed through the platforms deepfake algorithm. Next, the voice is synchronized with a video snippet featuring a specific person using the lip-syncing process. In this way, new deepfake characters that mimic real-world personalities are created. These characters are then utilized as the principal elements of unique deepfake videos.

Highly-creative and entertaining promotional videos generated via this technology serve as fascinating use cases for commercial purposes. DeepFakeAI sheds light on a wide array of opportunities for users to generate revenue from deepfake videos. Users could create unique videos and resell them for profit. It has also been reported that a community member generated a revenue of $520 for fulfilling video orders via the platform.

Moreover, this AI project aims to bolster video creation services on video-streaming platforms such as YouTube and freelancing websites such as Fiverr.com, Freelancer, and the like.

Cryptocurrency FAKEAI is assigned as the native utility token of DeepFakeAI, enabling users to utilize the platforms services. Holding this token provides specific benefits such as free usage of certain packages on the platform. At the time of writing, according to CoinGecko data, FAKEAI traded at $0.00031306.

Despite the lucrative scenario, people of different generations GenX to GenZ fear the negative consequences of this technology. As a way to address these concerns, projects like DeepFakeAI encourage users to abide by ethical practices and transparency.

Worldcoin Bug Allowed Anyone to Become Orb Operator: CertiK – Decrypt

Crypto security firm CertiK revealed it recently unearthed a vulnerability in the Worldcoin protocol that allowed an attacker to bypass the verification process to become an Orb operator.

According to CertiK, this vulnerability would have reportedly enabled anyone to circumvent the verification requirements to become a Worldcoin Orb operator. The individual wouldn't be obligated, for instance, to be a legitimate company, undergo proper ID verification, or pass a vetting interview.

In a normal case, only legit businesses that pass the Worldcoins strict identification verification process can run an Orb operation, which collects users iris information, reads CertiKs thread.

The security firm stated that it reported the issue to Worldcoin through a standard whitehat disclosure procedure, after which the projects security team confirmed the vulnerability and promptly issued a fix.

CertiK, in turn, reportedly verified and confirmed that the fix mitigated the threat. The security company added that it will make details of the finding and how the vulnerability was mitigated public at some point in future.

On May 29, CertiKs Security Team reported a bug to Worldcoin that could allow an attacker to create an inactive Operator account," a Worldcoin spokesperson told Decrypt. "The bug did not allow anyone to bypass the manual review for establishing an Operator account and at no point was access to Orbs or data enabled through the bug. The Worldcoin security team acknowledged and fixed the issue within 24 hours of receipt of information from CertiK and verified that it has not been abused."

Its worth noting that CertiKs revelation just a week after Worldcoin released a report on security audits of the Worldcoin protocol conducted by audit firms Nethermind and Least Authority.

These audits covered an extensive number of areas, including vulnerabilities in the code leading to adversarial actions and other attacks, as well as protection against malicious attacks and other methods of exploitation.

The Nethermind audit flagged 26 items during its security assessment, of which 24 were identified as fixed after the verification stage, while one was mitigated and the remaining one was acknowledged.

Least Authority identified three issues in the protocol and offered six suggestions, all of which have either been resolved or have planned resolutions, according to Worldcoin.

CertiK didnt immediately respond to Decrypts requests for comment.

Launched earlier this summer, Worldcoin is a crypto project aimed at establishing a novel global identity and financial network centered around iris scans.

The company claims that these World IDs will be crucial as artificial intelligence becomes more influential, allowing humans to prove they aren't robots.

To participate in this network, individuals are required to have their irises scanned using a device known as the Orb. As an incentive, users are rewarded with the project's native WLD token in exchange for their iris scan.

The project has sparked several concerns regarding data privacy and security. Critics, including famed whistleblower Edward Snowden and Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, argue that Worldcoin might be gathering an excessive amount of personal data, which could potentially be misused for malicious purposes.

There are also apprehensions about the security of the irisas Buterin pointed out in his recent blog post, Orbs are hardware devices where backdoors could be installed into the system, allowing malicious manufacturers to create multiple fake human identities.

MIT Technology Review has also accused Worldcoin of engaging in deceptive marketing practices and gathering a larger amount of personal data than initially disclosed.

In response to these concerns, Worldcoin has asserted its commitment to safeguarding user privacy.

The companys website states the project is fully compliant with all laws and regulations governing biometric data collection and data transfer, including Europes General Data Protection Regulation ('GDPR').

The firm added that the Worldcoin Foundation and its contributor Tools for Humanity never have and never will sell any personal data.

Jordan Peterson explains his religion, emitting more waffles than … – Why Evolution Is True

The other day, when Richard Dawkins answered two questions from Jordan Peterson, I noted this:

Whatever else there is to admire about Peterson, his affection for religion, which may be of the Little People variety (e.g., Iam no believer, but religion is essential for everyone else as a social glue), is not only an acceptance of the unevidenced, but a false belief that superstition is necessary for a good society (viz. Scandinavia). Its also patronizing.

But it may be that Peterson really believes in, say, Christianity. Id love to sit him down and ask him questions about whether he believes in the Resurrection, heaven, and so on, but Im 100% sure that his answers would be so tortuous that you wouldnt get an intelligible answer.

Well, I think I was right, and the video below show it. Here we see a weepy Peterson explaining his beliefs in an eight-minute video. It starts with an epiphany he had while pondering a sculpture: this was a vision of the sky (actually another dimension) opening up and a force descending upon him. That force filled him with an intense sense of like being in heaven for some brief period of time that transformed him. What was the transformation? Its not clear, but it has something to do with promoting morality.

Heres the tortuous part: he explains of his revelation that it was if I was in the presence of something that was living, and I suppose it was an experience of God, if you want to put it that way. He adds that he could have retained that elevated state, but would be unable to do so, for he simply couldnt live in such a state of exaltation. (Peterson doesnt explain why.) He felt that a gift had been offered the he was in no position to receive.

Reflecting on this epiphany, he adds that I dont know what to think about that. . . I mean God only know what the world is really like, thats for sure. . .and Ive had a variety of very strange experiences that have convinced me that we know very little about anything. He is ignoring all of science with such a statement. But perhaps hes referring to the numinous, in which case first we have to know that the anything hes talking about really exists.

Peterson then goes into Christ, noting that others have pointed out the similarity between mythological gods and Christ, but, he claims, Christ is different. Why? Because theres a historical representation of his existence as well. (Hes referring, of course, to the Bible, the only evidence of a living Christ person.) But he then backs away again and says that that the historical evidence can be doubted, but it doesnt matter because theres still a historical story, so what you have in the figure of Christ is an actual person who actually lived, plus a myth, and in some sense Christ is the union of those two things.

So here he says there are credible doubts about whether Christ actually lived, but then asserts that Christ reeally did live, so hes already contradicting himself. About whether he believes this, he waffles again: I probably believe that, but Im amazed at my own belief and I dont understand that. . . (here Peterson begins weeping). His weepiness is caused by his sense that in Christ, the objective world and the narrative world touch. Im not sure what this union synchronicity means, except that the Jesus story (which, he says, tells us how to act) somehow resonates with his emotions.

In response to the question of whether he believes in God, Peterson proffers several answers hes given, including No, but Im afraid he probably exists (whatever that means), No, but Im terrified that he might exist and I act as if God exists. This is waffling of the highest order!

He goes on to add out that some believing Christians abuse children, and that lowers his opinion of Christianity because they havent addressed this problem with sufficient zeal.

What is curious about all this, beside the fact that he produces more waffles than IHOP, is that the religion he is flirting with is Christianity, only one among many religions. And, in fact, there are other religions, for example Islam or Scientology, where theres far more evidence for the existence of a real founder than there is for Christianity.

This kind of palavera hyper-emotional recitation of beliefs that can lure in some doubters but that doesnt hang togetheris why I am not a fan of Peterson. But does it matter whether he believes in God or not? One gets the strong sense from this video that if he doesnt, he certainly believes in a Power Above Himself, and that power is very like Christianity. Peterson is an influential person, and so when his minions hear this stuff, theyre more likely to become believers than atheists.

But this is what the Jews call pilpul: an intellectual attempt to reconcile competing positions, often characterized, as Wikipedia notes, as casuistic hairsplitting.

This video comes from the Modern Wisdom YouTube channel, which seems to exist to promote the lucubrations of Jordan Peterson and Tucker Carlson.

Free Speech at Its Best? Elon Musk is Having a Lot of Fun … – Medium

I must admit, the little red devil perched upon my left shoulder loves the new X and dare I say under the leadership of Elon Musk.

Not always a popular opinion with people who think hes the devil incarnate and this isnt to say that I love everything he does. Actually, a lot of what he does is rather nauseating.

However, the platform itself is anything but boring these days and a bit of controversy makes the world go round. As long as no one gets seriously hurt, that is.

After Elon Musk notoriously bought out Twitter, recently rebranded as X, he vowed to make it a place where free speech would reign supreme. Hed been a fierce critic of what he deemed as censorship by Twitter under the direction of former CEO Jack Dorsey.

True to his word, after acquiring Twitter, Musk reinstated many accounts that had previously been suspended, like Mike Lindell and Jordan Peterson, and invited back arguably one of the most divisive personalities ever, former President Donald Trump (who said he was just fine sticking with his far-right Truth Social platform.)

To be sure, I dont care for any of these people, Lindell and Peterson are completely ignorable in my book, and Im glad Trump stayed away in his own online hemisphere.

Free speech is awesome but inciting violence is not.

In another controversial move, Musk eventually declared parody accounts would be allowed as long as they were indeed labeled as parody.

Well now, Musk opened the door, so he had to be prepared to walk through it, right? Remember, hed previously suspended Kathy Griffin for her own parody, although she was reinstated days later.

But, prepared he was.

One of the most popular parody accounts currently on the platform is the one of Elon Musk himself. How fitting indeed.

This meme of Musk dressed up as (perhaps?) a secret Barbie fan proved popular as well as this one of a homeless Musk:

Clarence Page: A crisis of masculinity? More like politics as usual. – Chicago Tribune

Perhaps its only coincidental but this, the summer of Barbie, also is the summer of our discontent in politics over manhood.

Sen. Josh Hawley, a Missouri Republican, helped to get the ball rolling with a new book, Manhood: The Masculine Virtues America Needs.

I thought it was rather amusing since my vivid memories of Hawley on Jan. 6 included two newsmaking images: One was a photo of him raising a defiant fist of support toward the crowd of Donald Trump loyalists who were about to storm the Capitol. The other was a video clip of him running swiftly through the Capitol to escape the same crowd after it turned riotous.

Thats politics. Conditions can change on you. It doesnt take away from Hawleys manly manliness for him to know when its time to get away from a riot.

Hawley also knows when it is the right time to sell a book about manhood, a topic that has produced a long line of books in recent years, such as Jordan Petersons 2018 bestselling 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote for Chaos, which my son recommended to me, although I am not sure whether he actually read it.

Peterson, I soon learned, is a Canadian psychologist and YouTube star who broke through in 2016 with a series of videos criticizing a Canadian law to introduce gender identity and expression as prohibited grounds for discrimination. Peterson argued, not unreasonably, that the bill would make the use of certain gender pronouns compelled speech.

He quickly became the darling of conservative critics of political correctness and identity politics. Although he often described himself as a classic British liberal and traditionalist, he became a star of the conservative lecture circuit, thanks to a content distribution deal with the conservative media company The Daily Wire. His podcasts have gathered millions of views.

Thats how I heard about him, thanks to my son who is better wired into content that has youth appeal these days than I am.

As little as these men would appear to share in common, they each have been cited numerous times in various media stories and broadcast discussions of todays reputed masculinity crisis and the various reactions to it.

This is hardly a new topic. I recall historians in the late 1960s declaring a crisis of masculinity to describe the anxieties of middle-class men in the Vietnam War era and the resurgence of the largest womens liberation movement since American women won the vote.

Now I hear similar lamentations about a new rising generation of young men. It began with genuine concerns about misogyny and women being treated as subordinates through discrimination, dominance or abuse.

It turned into accusations of toxic masculinity which I and countless other men learned was a genuine problem for women, just as second-class citizenship was a genuine problem for racial minorities and the Civil Rights Movement.

Much progress has been made on those issues, yet we also see a very different sociopolitical landscape these days, and not just for women and minorities.

This is a generation that is living increasingly without purpose or place, without meaning, without direction, Hawley said to the Stronger Mens Conference in Springfield, Missouri, where pastors, sports figures and niche Christian influencers sermonized about masculinity.

Such are the responses to changing times that we have seen emerge on the right and the left in recent years, although with very different ideas for remedies.

For those who lean toward the progressive agenda, the suggestions for this rising generation of anxieties seem obvious.

Raising the federal minimum wage would quickly raise the living standard for those who struggle in the lower income brackets and undercut the ability of working-class immigrants to put downward pressure on wages. We see this beginning to happen already as states and local governments raise their minimum wage, but more could be done.

We could pass universal health care and pay for it with higher taxes on the superrich as Democrats suggest, which also would reduce economic pressure on the working class.

In the name of supporting families, we could take steps to establish universal day care, pass federal paid family leave and bring back that lovely child tax credit that actually cut child poverty in half, to its lowest level in history during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In other words, we have the tools to deal with the problems of Americans who have the desire to work hard, support their families and try to step up the ladder of upward mobility but could use a little help in getting started.

We have the resources and the brainpower to deal with these problems. But I ask my fellow Americans, are we man or woman enough to do it?

The Psychology of Modern Military Warfare: Insights from Peterson, Pinker, and India – The Financial Express

By Dr Raul Villamarin Rodriguez

Modern military warfare has evolved significantly over the years, shaped not only by technological advancements but also by insights from modern psychologists like Jordan Peterson and Steven Pinker. These psychological perspectives provide valuable understandings of human behavior, decision-making, and the causes of conflict. In this article, we will explore some key psychological principles related to military warfare, drawing on the works of Peterson and Pinker, and analyze examples of Indias military history to illustrate these concepts.

Jordan Petersons exploration of human nature and individual psychology offers valuable insights into the dynamics of conflict. He highlights the dark potential that exists within every individual, capable of leading to violence and war when triggered by certain circumstances. Understanding this potential is crucial for modern military strategists and leaders, as it emphasizes the need for restraint, diplomacy, and ethical considerations during conflicts.

Steven Pinkers groundbreaking work in The Better Angels of Our Nature presents compelling evidence for the decline of violence throughout human history. Contrary to popular belief, Pinker demonstrates that the world has become less violent over time. This perspective challenges the conventional narrative of incessant warfare, showing that modern societies are more inclined towards peaceful resolutions of conflicts.

Combining insights from Peterson and Pinker, we can comprehend the psychological underpinnings of modern warfare better. While individuals may still possess aggressive tendencies, societies have grown more averse to large-scale violence, preferring diplomatic solutions whenever possible. Understanding these trends is essential for military decision-makers to navigate the complexities of the contemporary geopolitical landscape.

Indias military history bears witness to several captivating examples of conflict, each presenting unique insights into the psychological dynamics of warfare. The Kargil War of 1999 stands as a poignant illustration of Indias strategic acumen and psychological restraint. When Pakistans infiltrated forces escalated tensions in the Indian-administered territory of Kargil, India confronted a critical crossroads. Demonstrating remarkable poise, the Indian government opted for a diplomatic approach, avoiding an all-out war.

This decision highlighted a profound understanding of the psychological complexities involved in armed conflicts. By exercising restraint and focusing on strategic thinking, India showcased its commitment to minimizing the human and economic toll of war. Such psychological insights not only averted a potential catastrophe but also paved the way fordialogue and conflict resolution, emphasizing the significance of peaceful means in resolvingdisputes.Indias approach to nuclear warfare offers yet another intriguing facet of psychological restraint. As anuclear power, India possesses the capability to deploy formidable military might. However, its commitment to nuclear restraint underscores a deeper understanding of the devastating consequences that nuclear warfare could unleash.

This profound psychological insight has steered Indias military and political leaders toward a path of responsible deterrence and strategic caution. Rather than resorting to the unbridled use of nuclear weapons during confrontations, Indias decision-makers have embraced prudence and maturity, focusing on the long-term stability andsecurity of the region.

This display of psychological acumen showcases India as a responsible global actor, promoting dialogue and disarmament while serving as an exemplar of measured restraint amidst the complexities of modern military dynamics.

Beyond its handling of conflicts, Indias emphasis on peacekeeping and humanitarian missions provides further testimony to the application of psychological insights in military affairs. Active participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations underscores Indias commitment to diplomatic resolutions and humanitarian efforts.

By recognizing that military might alone cannot address all global challenges, Indias involvement in peacekeeping missions showcases a holistic approach that intertwines psychology, diplomacy, and international cooperation. This commitment to promoting peace and stability on the global stage reflects Indias nuanced understanding of thepsychological underpinnings of conflict resolution, emphasizing dialogue, empathy, and compassionin handling complex international crises.

In conclusion, Indias military history serves as a rich tapestry of psychological insights, offering valuable lessons to contemporary military strategists and leaders. The Kargil Conflict underscores the significance of restraint and strategic thinking, illustrating how diplomacy can lead to resolution even in the most tense and hostile situations. Indias nuclear restraint provides a powerful example of the responsible management of powerful military capabilities, prioritizing long-term stability over shortsighted aggression. Moreover, Indias emphasis on peacekeeping and humanitarian missions showcases the incorporation of psychological insights in addressing global challenges.

By recognizing the multifaceted interplay of political, strategic, and psychological factors, modern military leaderscan draw inspiration from Indias experiences and work toward fostering lasting peace and stability inthe world.

Rather than heeding the critics who cry woke, conservatives would do well to see the film and judge for themselves.

Greta GerwigsBarbieexplores themes that should appeal to conservatives, championing the value of motherhood I challenge any parent to not get misty-eyed refusing to dichotomize traditional femininity and professional achievement, criticizing the ironically anti-woman elements of internet feminism, and even acknowledging the struggle to achieve constitutional equality between groups. As a psychologist, however, what I found most interesting, and certainly most relevant to the right wing discourse surrounding the movie, is the films interaction with the psychological principle of precarious manhood.

Precarious manhood refers to the male tendency to measure their masculinity according to others estimation, rather than by personal or objective means. In other words, the respect of being a real man is something that is difficult to gain, easily lost, and must be constantly proved. Men who perceive their manhood as being threatened tend to respond aggressively, often posturing and blustering to appear tough and manly. This other-dependent masculinity is one of the central themes of the movie and its the reason why many right wing critics are reacting so strongly.

Barbies Ken, played with Oscar-winning aplomb by Ryan Gosling, is a man-doll whose identity is entirely tied up in his desired relationship with Barbie. The narrators introduction perfectly summarizes Kens self-concept: Ken only has a great day if Barbie looks at him. When it becomes clear that Barbie isnt interested, Kens threatened precarious manhood drives him to embrace patriarchy, conquer Barbieland, and brainwash the once-independent Barbies into wearing French Maid outfits and serving the Kens brewski beers.

Many across the ideological spectrum, including theAmerican Psychological Association, feminist scholarChristina Hoff Sommers, and even Ben Shapiros fellow Daily Wire contributorJordan Peterson, have all highlighted the dangers of this masculine insecurity. Lack of self-identity mixed with feelings of isolation in other words, precarious manhood drives men to dangerous beliefs and behaviors. Although Ken is the antagonist, the film treats him compassionately, and Ken resolves his crisis by realizing that he is Kenough, and must anchor his identity beyond his job (which is not a lifeguard, but simply beach) or desired romantic relationships. Instead, he must view himself as an individual with innate value. Sure its not quite Russell Kirks The Conservative Mind, but youd think this positive depiction of individualism as the solution to a crisis of masculinity deserves some Right Wing approval.

The trouble is many conservativecriticsare afflicted by the same precarious manhood as Ken. For example, Id suggest that setting toys on fire likeToy Storys kid-nightmare Sidis not the behavior of someone secure in their masculinity. Modern conservative media is full of similar examples, from Donald Trumps constant temper tantrums to supposed masculinity advocate Jordan Petersonsrefusingto apologize for sexist comments about swimsuit models.Testicle tanningTucker Carlson takes the cake by sympatheticallyinterviewingallegedsex trafficker andadmittedsexual predator Andrew Tate as a part of his efforts to address his perception of societys masculinity crisis.

Clearly thereisa crisis of masculinity within our society, but solving it would require admitting that these problems exist, not just blame-shifting or melting down every time someone else points them out.Barbies critics are too consumed by their precarious manhood to do this so much so that a movie affirming mens need to source their identity in something stronger than female approval has provoked their ire and left them seeing an olive branch as a threat. Were these people more secure in their manhood if they could only realize that they, too, are Kenough then their response toBarbiewould likely be very different. It would certainly involve less burnt plastic.

I wont pretend thatThe Barbie Movieis perfect. For instance, I wish the father character had been less buffoonish. However, I didnt perceive the films questions or jokes as a threat to men, but as opportunities to engage in important conversations. Greta Gerwigclaimsshe intended the film as an invitation for everybody men and women, liberal and conservative. The film simultaneously rejects toxic masculinity and extreme feminism, patriarchy and matriarchy, suggesting that answers to our cultures ideological differences must lie somewhere in the middle. Like Barbie and Ken, the audience is left to work out our answers through our own self-examinations and discussions..

But those discussions cant occur if we burn Barbie-mobiles instead of building bridges. Like Ken, we should abandon our precarious manhood and instead follow Barbies example: do the imagining, dont be the idea. Go see the movie yourself (wear pink!) you might be pleasantly surprised.
