GigaIOs SuperNODE to Power TensorWave Deployment with AMD MI300X – High-Performance Computing News … – insideHPC

San Jose, California, December 6, 2023 GigaIO, provider of open workload-defined infrastructure for AI and accelerated computing, has announced what the company said is the largest order yet for its SuperNODE utilizing tens of thousands of the AMD Instinct MI300X accelerators.

GigaIOs infrastructure will form the backbone of a bare-metal specialized AI cloud code-named TensorNODE, to be built by cloud provider TensorWave for supplying access to AMD data center GPUs, especially for use in LLMs.

The company said the SuperNODE, launched last June, was the worlds first 32-GPU single-node supercomputer. The TensorNODE deployment will build upon this architecture to a greater scale, leveraging GigaIOs PCIe Gen-5 memory fabric to provide a simpler workload setup and deployment than is possible with legacy networks, and eliminating the associated performance tax., according to GigaIO.

TensorWave is excited to bring this innovative solution to market with GigaIO and AMD, said Darrick Horton, CEO of TensorWave. We selected the GigaIO platform because of its superior capabilities, in addition to GigaIOs alignment with our values and commitment to open standards. Were leveraging this novel infrastructure to support large-scale AI workloads and we are proud to be collaborating with AMD as one of the first cloud providers to deploy the MI300X accelerator solutions.

GPU utilization is key in this era of GPU scarcity but requires significant VRAM and memory bandwidth. TensorWave will use FabreX to create the very first petabyte-scale GPU memory pool without the performance impact of non memory-centric networks. The first installment of TensorNODE is expected to be operational starting in early 2024 with an architecture that will support up to 5,760 GPUs across a single FabreX memory fabric domain. Workloads will be able to access more than a petabyte of VRAM in a single job from any node, enabling even the largest jobs to be completed in record time. Throughout 2024, multiple TensorNODEs will be deployed.

The composable nature of GigaIOs dynamic infrastructure provides TensorWave with tremendous flexibility and agility over standard static infrastructure; as LLMs and AI user needs evolve over time, the infrastructure can be tuned on the fly to meet both current and future needs.

TensorWaves cloud will be greener than alternatives by eliminating redundant servers and associated networking equipment, providing a savings in cost, complexity, space, water, and power.

We are thrilled to power TensorWaves infrastructure at scale by combining the power of the revolutionary AMD Instinct MI300X accelerators with GigaIOs AI infrastructure architecture, including our unique memory fabric, FabreX. This deployment validates the pioneering approach we have taken to reimagining data center infrastructure, said Alan Benjamin, CEO of GigaIO. The TensorWave teambrings both a visionary approach to cloud computing and a deep expertise in standing up and deploying very sophisticated accelerated data centers.

TensorNODE is an all-AMD solution featuring both 4th Gen AMD CPUs and MI300X accelerators. The expected performance of the TensorNODE is made possible by the MI300X, which delivers 192GB of HBM3 memory per accelerator. The leadership memory capacity of these accelerators, combined with GigaIOs memory fabric which allows for near-perfect scaling with no compromse to performance solves the challenge of underutilized or idle GPU cores.

We are excited about our collaboration with GigaIO and TensorWave to bring unique solutions to the evolving workload demands of AI and HPC, said Andrew Dieckmann, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Data Center and Accelerated Processing of AMD. GigaIOs SuperNODE architecture, powered by AMD Instinct accelerators and AMD EPYC CPUs, is expected to deliver impressive performance and flexibility.

Jordan Peterson: Blame idiotic Marxism for the demented antisemitism oozing out of universities – National Post

The rot in the western world that has accrued in the last few years, revealed with particular clarity since the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, showed its depth in a heretofore unparalleled manner this week in Washington, D.C. The presidents of MIT, Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania appeared at a congressional hearing to face questions about the rise of antisemitism on their respective campuses (a phenomenon duplicating itself across the academic landscape).

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

I watched the event unfold with the same sense of surreal disbelief that has surrounded me more and more frequently over the last decade, as the academic world and the broader culture it shapes have succumbed ever more completely to the faux-compassionate blandishments of the radical left.

Well give the devil his due, first, as is always appropriate. The three personages in question were most definitely subjected to intensely unfriendly questioning, particularly by U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.). They were put on the hot seat, while their politico interlocutor performed for the camera, and they reacted more defensively, angrily, resentfully and counterproductively than they might have otherwise. However, the same Congresswoman was for all her partisanship rather dreadfully effective in exposing the depth of narcissistic, moralizing, malevolent stupidity that passes for thought in our apparently-doomed institutions of higher education.

I make that latter comment with no pleasure whatsoever: the six years I taught in Cambridge, Mass. at the pre-eminent Ivy League campus in the United States served as a pinnacle point of my early career. Harvard truly lived up to its reputation in the early 90s. The senior faculty serving there were the most educated and able people I had ever met; their junior counterparts truly the hottest young researchers and teachers in the world; the undergraduates reliably the smartest, hardest-working and generally admirable young men and women imaginable. The great university did its job, and it did it well.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

I watched the demise of the University in Toronto over the twenty years I spent there as a professor. Every bloody time the ever-expanding administration put counterproductive pressure on the faculty (hiring more Deans, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans and Diversity, Inclusivity and Equity commissars) the spineless academics folded. I grew tired of objecting, one painful faculty meeting after another: Why are we allowing them to increase class size; place more restrictive rules on our research protocols; implement yet another delusional and false five-year plan; eliminate all year-long courses; subject us to constant ideological training, conducted by self-evidently unqualified frauds; etc., etc? We could just say no! What could they possibly do? The answer I received was always the same: Then they wont give us what we want. My objection They dont give us what we want now was continually met by the collective shrug of shoulders that over two decades handed the entire enterprise over to the encroaching bureaucrats.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

And that was by no means the end of it: first, the administration took over the universities, massively increasing costs and decreasing efficiency. Then the parasitical and predatory woke mob took over the administration. It took decades for the first catastrophe to unfold, and mere years for the second. And here we are and where that is, precisely, was what made itself known in D.C.

Rep. Stefanik pushed the three university presidents hard, each in turn, requesting at least by implication an affirmative response to the easiest question to answer: Does calling specifically for the genocide of Jews violate (your universitys) code of conduct or rules regarding bullying and harassment? To understand what happened next, in all three cases, it is necessary to understand that these selfsame codes and rules have been a veritable shibboleth of the moralizing activists the three presidents concerned so directly condone, support and produce. For years, a continuous clamour has arisen from the snowflakes, allies, Marxists, post-modernists and generally psychopathological neurotics concerning the absolute danger of speech that could in any way imaginable cause offence to anyone imaginable under any circumstances whatsoever.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

But now, suddenly, this insistence one that has already destroyed the careers and even the lives of far more than a few appears to be fully disposable, as long as the speech in question is calling directly and viciously for the genocide of Jews. First to prevaricate was MITs president, Sally Kornbluth. Demented smile plastered firmly on animus-possessed face, this dangerous excuse for a human being claimed, for example, that the increasingly strident campus-protester calls for intefadeh (a word derived from the Arabic to shake offas in dirt from ones sandals) had to be interpreted in context. I presume that the same applies to from the river to the sea.

Despite the stunned disbelief this demented utterance immediately produced on the part of the questioner and the audience the next two president-marionettes mouthed the same propagandistic and apparently-rehearsed lines: Liz Magill of U Penn indicated that calls for Jewish genocide were only bullying and harassment if directed, severe and pervasive the diagnosis of which was a context-dependent decision. Then, even more unbelievably and after being warned that her answer would resound around the world Magill said that such speech would become harassment only when it became conduct. This dumbfounding response would have stopped a lesser questioner in her tracks, but Stefanik remained on course, immediately pointing out that such conduct meant actually committing genocide. Have we ever witnessed such things in our lifetime?

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

Harvards supercilious Gay fared no better. The question was repeated: Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate Harvards rules of bullying and harassment? Yes or no? Gay allowed the devil himself to speak through her: It can be depending on the context. Now, it would be one thing if Harvard was the absolutely staunch libertarian defender of free speech that Gay was implicitly claiming (the only stance that could possibly justify such a response) but her institutions bottom-of-the-barrel aforementioned recent score on that front rules out such a possibility.

The true situation is in fact quite clear: there is one set of rules, say, for saying something mildly sexually inappropriate at a drunken party if youre a callow frat boy and another if youre a raving mad postmodern meta-Marxist hellbent on the destruction of the Jews. Gay was, nonetheless and quite mercifully, granted another kick at the proverbial cat. Rep. Stefanik, who was to say the least both shocked and irritated by Gays first answer encouraged her in a follow-up to state clearly the yes that would have let the Harvard ruler off the hook. She doubled down, instead, as all would-be tyrants do, repeating her all-explaining-and-excusing clich: it depends on the context.

It was good ole Karl who split the world into two camps: that of the proletariat, virtuous by the mere fact of their subjugation, and that of the bourgeoisie, the capitalist owners, upon whose heads were heaped all the coals of fire necessary to burn their profiteering, thieving houses and hides to the ground, along with the lives and property of their families. Victims and victimizers: thats the world, and all you need to know to master it. History, family, friendship, all possible social and economic relationships (the latter deemed fundamental by the bloody communists): all can be understood, and immediately, in terms of the dynamic of oppressed and oppressor, the ultimate of classes and categories.

Pick a dimension of evaluation. Identify the oppressor (anyone successful; anyone with anything not owned or characterizing by everyone else). Claim allyship with the oppressed. Voila! You now understand everything, and have done all the work necessary to establish your reputation. Its a universal explanation, compressed into a single idea and more: a one-claim pathway to the highest strata of unearned moral virtue. Thats a deal too attractive to resist, allowing those who accept it to bask in their stupidity, glory in their hypocrisy and torture those they envy in good conscience.

The fact that such a theory allows the accusation of exploitation to be levied against everyone (as we all have something lacked by someone else somewhere or at some time), and that there is tremendous danger in that, can be all-too-conveniently ignored until the mob shows up at the once-accusers door, pitchfork and torch in hand. On second thought: Perhaps thats a feature, instead of a bug. The payoff for the dreadful simplification is just too high: all work necessary to understand the complexities of human psychological, economic and social function is no longer necessary (as a full explanation has been provided); furthermore, the goodness so long sought by serious contemplatives, mystics and saints exists right at hand. Mere stated pity for the oppressed makes you the best of all possible persons. And if that means to hell with everyone else, so be it even if that hell will envelop future you at some point in the now-thankfully-distant forthcoming years.

I observed the spectacle of the university presidents with true dread. It was not only that they unthinkably, self-righteously and dangerously promulgated the most dangerous of claims: that power rules everything the very claim that justifies the use of power; the very claim that is put forward for precisely that purpose; the very claim that when sufficiently widespread (as it was in the U.S.S.R and still is in China and North Korea) turns everything and very rapidly to deep and endless misery. It was that they did so without even noticing or reflecting upon the fact that they were doing; without thinking at all about what they were doing meant.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

The fact that plunging snout-deep into the postmodern meta-Marxist academic trough will actually turn you, if not into a full-fledged Nazi, at least into someone who will testify in front of Congress on behalf of those promoting the deadliest of hatreds toward the Jews shouldnt that have given those presidents pause? And the fact that it didnt, while they simultaneously refused to notice the fact of their own possession, showing no shame whatsoever for it, failing even to be concerned with the potential effect on their own reputation shouldnt that give all of us watching pause? Is the bubble they inhabit truly that thick? And the answer is likely yes. Worse yet, it is that pervasive, in the general culture: I dont believe for a minute that these women will pay for their sin with their jobs, even though they should clearly be fired, given that they dont have enough sense to resign in well-deserved disgrace.

And I should point out in closing that the same bloody dread doctrine that poured itself out of the mouths of those pathetic excuses for intellectual leaders and thinkers in D.C. also fully possesses the leadership of our current government here in Canada, our own institutes of higher education and, increasingly, all the minds of the educated class. Luciferian presumption rules everywhere and the pride we now celebrate (or else) for a month if not a season inevitably goes before a fall.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

We will look back on what we are doing with great shame. The Jews today, blind fools: You and those you love tomorrow. So it has been since the dawn of history.

Matt Rife and Jordan Peterson Was Not the Mashup I Expected – The Mary Sue

The twists and turns just keep coming for Matt Rife. Rife, who was once the TikTok darling who had women everywhere defending him, including mothers, is now becoming the Red Pill dream.

Why? Because Rife decided to turn right so hard that now the Daily Wire and Jordan Peterson are defending him for making bad jokes on his Netflix special. Rifes fall from grace is hitting every possible rock along the way. On Petersons podcast this week, which you can watch if you really want to, Rife and Peterson have a lengthy conversation about his cancellation and people reacting to Rifes special, particularly about his domestic violence joke at the beginning of the special.

Joining the podcast to continue his woe is me act because of his cancellation, Rife talked to Peterson about his brand of comedy. I use the quotations because I dont see what Rife does as comedy, but rather a white boy standing up on stage and saying words that are not funny and havent been funny in this century.

Peterson said to Rife at one point that the people who were offended by the domestic violence joke in his special just do not have a sense of humor, which is hilarious given my own comedy background and all the jokes I could make about how Peterson sounds like what I imagine a turtle sounds like if they could speak. But the two mocked the men who had a problem with Rifes joke, including Rife talking about a response he saw on TikTok.

I saw one TikTok video response [from a guy who said], I have a wife, and I find this severely disrespectful, Rife said. OK, you cuck. Whatever. What do you want? To get more p*ssy outside of your wife? Youre already married. She already respects you. What more do you want?

Whatever kind of PR this is, it really is a choice. It is a giant f**k you to the women who were fans of Rife before all of this went down. Rife insinuates that he is even done posting his crowd work on social media, which is why he even has the career he did have. All of this is just a slap in the face to the people who lifted him up and gave him the career he is throwing away for a bad joke.

Going on Petersons podcast is really just a step up in the What are you doing? trend of Rifes latest journey. Whether it is a PR move to let him be the king of cancel culture or whatever this weird approach to the next step of his career is, it shows that Rife does not care about the women who gave him the platform he has because going on Petersons podcast and working with the Daily Wire is sending a clear message to everyone.

This is gross, and his dedication to not apologizing for any of his jokes really makes it clear where Rife stands with his comedy.

Jordan Peterson and the condescension of Times columnists | Ethan Green – The Critic

The Times is at it again with its strange fixation on Jordan Peterson. It has published over twenty-seven articles on the man, from an utterly shameful characterisation of the well-documented fact that people with autoimmune diseases are affected by food and thus often eat unusual diets as an outlandish tale, to the most recent case of its radio discussion on Petersons talk at the O2 last month.

What is so striking about its conversation was just how clear its disregard for the public was. The contributors were shocked that people were willing to engage with let alone capable of engaging with a philosopher. The conversation began with Matt Chorley saying: I mean, a philosopher selling out the O2 was it sold out? This attitude reveals that the public are seen as dim and apathetic. Whilst this could be forgiven as an off-hand comment, it cannot be in light of what followed from the other panellists.

Take James Marriott for instance who, despite being a talented writer, stated that when he learnt of the event, he thought, what on Earth is going on?, will it be sold out? and can it even work, a guy giving a talk?. This grossly underestimates common people, especially in their mystifiedrealisation that the public had an attention span which surpasses three whole hours.

Behind all of this lurks fear of the old medias loss of status

Coupled with the classist ignorance of the common mans intellectual acumen was active disdain. Marriotts explanation that one of the other speakers is a popular Youtuber was soon accompanied by a deep sigh from Rachel Sylvester adding to her colleagues lack of regard for the publics interest in highbrow subjects, a snooty sense of superiority that they take a Youtuber seriously. How could they? Why, its unlikely that he even attended Oxbridge!

This was quite ironic from a journalist whose main contribution to the debate was to repeatedly interject with her brilliant and subtle observation that the panel was all men. Well, that is not entirely fair she did also present the perceptive critique of Petersons philosophy as being mumbo jumbo.

What this again illustrates is an insufferable arrogance towards the public. How dare an audience composed nearly equally of men and women not see the clear misogyny?

The lack of self-reflection amongst the panel was also very telling. Marriott revealed that what he expected of the audience was not the normal crowd of people he found, but isolated, slightly dangerous young men which is in keeping with the papers references to Peterson as an alt-right darling. Rather than take a moment to reflect upon how their assumptions were so catastrophically wrong, and that they had been smearing hundreds of thousands of people maybe, just maybe there is something to learn from Petersons popularity that they have missed they instead labelled the normalness of the crowd disturbing.

No pleasure was taken at the fact that the public surpassed their condescending expectations and that even the glamorous girls with platinum blonde hair are part of a re-emergent and vibrant public political culture. Did they consider that maybe if these speakers are attracting mainstream appeal, they are not as extreme as they might have thought? No, the speakers were still strange alt-right celebrities and the audience, in applauding the speakers at an event they paid for, was ludicrously said to resemble a scene out of North Korea.

Behind all of this lurks fear of the old medias loss of status. Marriott lamented how one hopes that columnists are still the centre of the world. Tongue in cheek? Perhaps. Still, when The Times is producing commentary which is not just out of touch with the wider public but (looking at the comments on their articles on Peterson) consistently ridiculed by their own readership, it is no wonder that they arent.

The radio segment and to a lesser extent its source article are illustrative of everything that is wrong with the current media discourse. They look down on the audience, not just in tone but in the substance of what is being discussed.

What could have been a genuine critique of Petersons world-view was instead replaced by an unprepared Chorley asking questions like was it just him [Peterson] speaking, comparisons of Peterson to Kermit the Frog, long-since stale identity politics, and an irrelevant interlude about how Marriott is reading a book on the Roman Empire (which I suppose is intended to make him appear smart).

The public, rather than being too dumb for a talk on philosophy, are too smart to be satisfied with such cursory content. Perhaps this is why a freely available four-minute discussion online could barely muster a tenth of the views that Petersons three-hour paid lecture did.

Tammy and Jordan Peterson: wrestling with their faith – The B.C. Catholic

As todays cancel culture mightily attempts to push God out of the public sphere, Tammy and Dr. Jordan Peterson are weighing in on religions place in our increasingly secular world.

Both have wrestled with questions of faith and are carving out their own paths to truth and understanding. Tammy has talked publicly, including in an exclusive interview published in the Oct. 29 issue of The Catholic Register, about her journey towards becoming a Catholic. Jordan, the renowned psychologist and thorn in the side of so-called woke culture, is writing a book delving into Biblical stories. Its set to be published in 2024 and may give a glimpse into his own journey of faith.

Its about 90 per cent finished. Its calledWe Who Wrestle with God. Some people will be familiar with the lectures I did on Genesis and also with the most recent Exodus seminar, and this is an extension of that work, Jordan told The Register.

I walk through a number of the main Biblical stories, Old and New Testament alike, and a commentary on their psychological, practical, social and possibly philosophical and theological significance. So (its) an explanation of, for example, what it means to live in a covenantal relationship, he said.

Its not something people understand, why the foundation of the well - integrated psyche and a stable society is sacrifice Im attempting to answer questions like that.

Asked about progress in his own faith journey, Jordan was not ready to divulge details.

People have to figure that out for themselves, he answered. What do they say, By your fruits you will know them.

One of those fruits has been their 35-year marriage, which weathered the storms of health struggles and the media spotlight, particularly since Jordan rose to prominence when he fought back against gender ideology as a professor at the University of Toronto.

You enter into marriage as an act of faith. You fall in love with someone which is a grace, a gift from God in some real sense, Jordan said in a DailyWire+ video.

In response to Tammys newfound faith, Jordan said he is ready to support her and stand with his wife when she becomes Catholic this Easter.

Yes, its been very good for her. Im happy to see things that are good for her unfolding. Its also helped her have a very positive effect on all sorts of other people so thats also extremely good. Theres nothing in it that isnt good, as far as I can tell, and there isnt anything you can say that about, he said.

Tammy credits the Rosary for the growth in her own faith,

My faith, with the Rosary, has been strengthened, she recently told a group of about 70 people at Kintore College, a cultural centre and private residence for female post-secondary students in downtown Toronto.

Sometimes, I call my daughter and I tell her what happened that day. (I say) God was sending this challenge and I see what I can do to respond properly, she said.

The Petersons were invited by their friend, Queenie Yu, a Numerary member of the personal prelature of Opus Dei and Hawthorn School for Girls director of Character Education, to speak at a Nov. 7 event at Torontos Kintore College with Hawthorn students, parents and friends. Hawthorn is an independent, Catholic-inspired all-girls school in north Toronto. Tammy has been involved with female leadership and mentorship programs at Kintore College and was keynote speaker at Hawthorns graduation last year.

News of Tammys Catholic conversion has gone viral since she first told The Catholic Register in late September that she started Catechism classes through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, previously known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

During their marriage, the Petersons have faced Herculean health challenges: their daughters debilitating childhood arthritis, Tammys cancer and health battles and Jordans own health crisis when he battled severe benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome that saw him placed in a medically induced coma. These could have proved insurmountable had it not been for their steadfast commitment to each other, to the truth and their unwavering support for each others quest to be the best version of themselves.

Whats been the secret to their lasting marriage? Tammy said its following through with the public commitment.

When I got married, I decided I was going to stay no matter what. I took my vows seriously. I wanted to make sure that I was committed 100 per cent and thats partly what marriage is. When you marry one another and you do that in front of the priest in the church, with all of your friends and your family around, youre saying, Im going todo this and I have witnesses, she said.

Our daughter was very, very sick as a child and we had differing ideas of what was good for her. We still held together. And weve had our own health issues that couldve easily pulled us apart, but they didnt, Tammy said. We decided that we would stay together and support one another through thick and thin, and I would say that our relationship since all of those things that weve been through is better, deeper and stronger and more of an adventure than its ever been.

From the first date to the altar, the Petersons have set their sites upon building a relationship rooted in truth. Transparency is key, Jordan emphasized.

Dont lie to your partner. What are you going to do? Are you going to blind them to the reality of your shared life?

Alluding to Scripture, he said, Youre supposed to build your life on a rock, not on sand.

Jordan and Tammy met in the small northern Alberta town of Fairview, with a population of fewer than 3,000.

Jordan was eight when he met Tammy. His family lived across the street from her house. They were childhood friends and played croquet together.

We would sit outside Fairview on a hill where you could see right across the Peace River to the next 40 or 50 miles away. You could see strings of lights and it was beautiful, Tammy recalled.

In senior year, Jordan was Tammys grad date. After high school, they went their separate ways Jordan to Montreal and Tammy to pursue a kinesiology degree in Ottawa but kept in touch. They reconnected in Montreal and after committing to tell the truth, they were married. They have two children, Mikhaila and Julian, three grandchildren and more on the way. Mikhaila recently announced on social media that she and her husband, Jordan Fuller, are expecting a baby.

Jordan previously described the goal of marriage as being the perfect date that repeats itself endlessly.

A winning formula for the Petersons has also been the tradition of the Date Night which they adopted after they welcomed their first baby, and it continues today.

We get dressed in something nice, Tammy explained. Jordan comes down and makes sure the room is tidy and the pillows are fluffed up, the candles are lit and the music is on.

I turn the lasers on, Jordan added, referring to their laser lights from the 1970s.

They turn up the volume to their romance on a Spotify playlist featuring songs from The Great American Songbook, jazz classics, and Billie Holiday. And they dance.

From the dance floor to the public arena, speaking ones truth can come at a cost. How does one find the courage to speak up?

They say the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. No one would be afraid to tell the truth if they were sufficiently afraid of the alternative, Jordan said.

People have commented on my bravery to me before. They dont have it right, he said, adding that the idea of being silenced by the government was more terrifying.

Totalitarian states emerge, he said, when people lose control of their tongues.

For Tammy, speaking up is connected to her newfound faith.

I really want to do my part so if it helps anyone to have a better understanding or clear understanding of who they might be and how they might give their heart to Jesus, that would be a good thing, she said.

Matt Rife Is Such A Great Comic That He Needs Jordan Peterson to Explain Why Hes Funny – Cracked.com

Matt Rife is in the dog house with his mostly female fanbase, so, to save his career, hes asking for help from a figure who earned massive online success without a single woman fan Jordan Peterson.

Just weeks ago,Rife commanded one of the largest and most fervent following of women in the online comedy community. With his (possibly literally) sculpted jawline, his impressive physique and his enthusiasm for suggestive interactions with fans, Rife was equally beloved by Gen Z girls as he was by their mothers and grandmothers. However, in his debut Netflix special,Natural Selection, which skyrocketed to the top of the charts upon its November 10th release, Rife made a deliberate effort to distance himself from the pretty boy persona that turned off many male comedy fans from taking the Ohio-born social media star seriously. Rife infamously opened the special with a Nothing, you already told her twice-esque joke about domestic violence, which sparked media controversy and blowback from women in his fandom who felt betrayed by his sudden and intentional heel-turn towards insipid, unoriginal dude-bro comedy.

Over the weekend, Rife appeared on the podcast of a popular figure in the manosphere, a corner of the outrage-driven internet where Rife clearly believes he belongs. Peterson, an author, commentator and psychologist who represents the pseudo-intellectual spearhead of the alt-rights culture warriors, embraced Rife for refusing to back down to his detractors bysarcastically posting an apology with a link to a special-needs helmet store. Peterson described Rifes reaction to his critics as a witty, fast, brave and appropriate response to the situation and you can tell that Peterson really believes that Rife is hilarious by how his assessment of the joke has the seriousness of a eulogy.

I thought the joke was funny risky, and funny and I thought your response was dead on, Peterson told Rife with a stern scowl splashed across his face. The controversial conservative commentator declared that Rife had been canceled, using the comics situation as a microcosm for the issues of censorship and sensitivity that Peterson has spent the last decade complaining about on the internet. While describing Rife as a profoundly persecuted martyr, Peterson called the controversy a tempest in a teapot and wished that Rifes idiot accusers would all pass away and spend eternity in hell composed of nothing but people like them talking to them.

Rife said of his controversial opening bit onNatural Selection, Its a modern twist on an old joke, claiming, I wanted to put my own spin on it with it being the tired copy/pasted gag where a woman is beaten and a man says that she deserved it for failing some household duty, sometimes calling her a broken down dishwasher. Rife characterized his style as high risk, high reward, a point with which Peterson emphatically agreed on the grounds that the woke mob now wages war on the comic as the result of the courageous risks he takes. At the time of publication,Natural Selectionis still streaming on Netflix and Rife is not imprisoned for charges of being too provocative.

Of course, the real problem with the bit that Rife and Peterson dissected with all the humor and playfulness of a deposition is self-evident by the comics failure to inspire so much as a smile from his host the joke just wasn't funny. Much like Rifes ensuing promotional tour on the alt-right podcast circuit, Natural Selection was a cynical attempt to rebrand Rife as a guys guy comic worthy of the grift that Peterson and his fellow podcasters in the comedy world continue to exploit for massive financial gain. Whether onstage or on Petersons show, Rifes problem is that he isnt trying to make people laugh hes trying to pander to a specific group whom he sees as his path to greater success than he had with his former female following.

At no point was this more obvious than when Peterson asked Rife why he reached out to the alt-right psychologist to organize an appearance on the show. Rife replied, Im a huge fan, man. Listen, you and I have never met, and Ill be truthfully honest, I havent done extensive research into everything youve done. But I find you to be a very kind man, and very well spoken, and someone who stands on their morals and the realism of society today. And I think that is incredibly rare. Despite being a huge fan, Rife couldnt even be bothered to do his research about his host while maneuvering to access his platform of potential you just cant joke about anything nowadays comedy fans. Rifes move to appear on Petersons podcast stinks like another lazy, calculated attempt to earn the aesthetic of edginess without doing any of the intellectual work to actually push boundaries.

For that reason, I fully expect the scheme to pay off and for Peterson fans to rally behind Rife in his new phase as the most popular incel-adjacent comic in podcasting. Peterson can teach Rife plenty about pandering to angry, lonely men on the internet, even if he cant connect to Rifes past of ever once enjoying the affection of women.

Binance Exchange’s BNB Token Misses Out on $180 Billion Crypto Rally – Yahoo Finance

(Bloomberg) -- Binances BNB token has missed out on most of the recent rally in digital assets, a sign of the challenging outlook for the largest crypto exchange after it pleaded guilty to US charges and was hit with a $4.3 billion penalty.

Most Read from Bloomberg

The total market value of cryptocurrencies has jumped some 12% or $180 billion in the past seven days, stoked by a Bitcoin surge, CoinGecko data show. Over the same period, BNB added about 1.3% to trade at $231 as of 2:55 p.m. Thursday in New York.

BNB, which offers holders benefits such as lower trading fees on Binance, is viewed as a reflection of sentiment toward the exchange. The platform fielded a web of regulatory probes this year, culminating in the US with guilty pleas on Nov. 21 for anti-money-laundering and sanctions violations. BNB is the only major token still nursing a year-to-date loss, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

While Binance remains by far the biggest platform for buying and selling digital assets as well as crypto derivatives, its dominance is waning. The exchanges share of spot trading volumes slid to 32% in November from 55% at the start of 2023, according to CCData. Its derivatives market share declined to 48% from more than 60%.

We expect Binance will lose its throne as the No. 1 centralized exchange by volumes following the plea deal with US authorities, said Matthew Sigel, head of digital-assets research at fund manager VanEck. Rivals OKX, Bybit, Coinbase and Bitget have the potential to grab the top spot, he added.

Binances founder Changpeng Zhao also pleaded guilty and resigned as its chief executive officer under the settlement with US authorities. Zhaos successor Richard Teng, a civil servant turned crypto executive, faces the tricky task of reshaping the firm to avoid regulatory blowups while at the same time stemming the loss of market share.

Story continues

Teng has sought to project strength, saying in an interview last month that Binances revenues and profits remain robust. He faces pressure to select a formal headquarters, appoint a board of directors and provide greater financial transparency about the company.

Exchange Flows

Binance didnt respond to a request for comment about BNBs performance and the business outlook for the company.

Customers withdrew a net $1.6 billion from Binance in November, the second highest monthly outflow of the year, according DefiLlama data. Some of that has reversed, with a net $398 million flowing onto the exchange so far in December.

BNB is down about 8% since the US guilty pleas and more than $4 billion fine, which ranks among the biggest such penalties in US history. An index of the largest 100 digital assets advanced some 14% over the same period.

BNB is being treated as a proxy for Binance right now, which explains its strong underperformance, said Clara Medalie, director of research at Kaiko.

Over longer time periods, BNB has still outperformed for instance, its up about 686% over the past three years compared with a 122% increase in the index of the top 100 tokens.

This years rebound in digital-asset prices from a 2022 rout provides a tailwind for Binance. The plea deal, and the conviction of Sam Bankman-Fried for fraud at FTX, have also fueled optimism that the worst of the US crackdown on crypto may be over.

The US settlement certainly had an impact on the BNB price but Binance remains operational and theres at least a path forward, said Annabelle Huang, managing partner at crypto lender Amber Group.

Here’s How Much Binance XRP Holding Dropped in 1 Month Amid Plunging Liquidity – The Crypto Basic

Following the intense regulatory crackdown on Binance, the XRP reserve on the platform has dropped 1.14% within a month, as liquidity takes a huge hit.

Based on our personally tracked records, the XRP reserve on Binance as of November 1 came in at 2,770,726,176 units. This figure has dropped to 2,739,628,543.726 XRP as of December 1, as gleaned in its latest Proof-of-Reserve (PoR) report.

The plunge is reminiscent of the imbalance in the crypto market and the susceptibility of prominent coins to respond to regulatory instability, irrespective of the platform involved.

Despite the Department of Justice (DOJ) netting $4.3 billion in settlement from the exchange, XRP traders on Binance are still obviously treading with caution.

While there is a month-on-month decline in the XRP reserve presented by Binance, the trading platform remains in a position to redeem all withdrawal requests from its users at any time.

Per the figures presented in the PoR report, the customers XRP balance comes in at 2,624,581,559.32 XRP worth $1,692,855,105 based on XRPs price of $0.645 at the time of writing. The Binance XRP reserve comes in at $1,767,060,410, with a massive excess of $74,205,305.

With the turbulent November, the robust liquidity pool and XRP reserve mitigated the impact of the withdrawal shocks that gripped the trading platform when its founder, Changpeng CZ Zhao stepped down in the fallout with the DOJ.

Binances transparency since it started releasing the PoR report months ago might be responsible for the trust placed in the firm by its loyal customers. Despite the DoJ threat, Binance remains the biggest crypto exchange per daily trading volume.

Just like XRP, Binance has proven that it has enough reserve for the tokens supported on its platform. While Bitcoins customer balance comes in at 561,003.3 BTC, Binance holds 584,373.7 BTC.

Other tokens including Binance Coin (BNB), Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC) also have at least a 100% reserve ratio.

XRP and Cardano Still Missing as Binance Web3 Wallet Now Supports Bitcoin and Dogecoin – The Crypto Basic

The largest crypto trading platform, Binance, has now added support for five blockchain networks in its Binance Web3 Wallet service.

The exchange communicated this update via a recent blog post and on X. Per the notification, the new additions were in response to feedback from the crypto community.

Notably, the five networks now incorporated into the Binance Web3 Wallet include the blockchains of Bitcoin (BTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Sei Network.

Following the new integration, users can seamlessly transfer tokens to and from these networks using Binance Web3 Wallet. Existing supported networks include BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Arbitrum One.

However, notable blockchain networks still missing include the XRP Ledger and Cardano. This implies that investors cannot send and receive ADA and XRP through the tokens native networks on the Binance self-custody solution, only through other networks like BNB Smart Chain.

It is worth mentioning that the support for Bitcoin and Dogecoin on Binance Web3 Wallet comes precisely a month after the exchange introduced the platform. Notably, the Binance Web3 Wallet supports storing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on specific networks.

Binance noted that its Web3 wallet service streamlines the path for users as it eliminates complex setups. Specifically, the Binance Web3 wallet eliminated the need to write down seed phrases, a process typical of standard crypto wallets.

Binance claimed users benefit from the seed-phrase-less setup while retaining the advantages of security and self-custody.

Besides, Binance users need to perform no extra actions to own and control this Web3 Wallet. Users can navigate to the wallet from the Binance app with just two clicks: [Wallets] > [Web3].

It is worth noting that, similar to other services, crypto self-custody solutions mean that users have total control over their wallets, and forgotten passwords are not retrievable.

If you forget your password and lose access to your device (or delete the Binance app), you wont be able to access your wallet or its contents, Binance stated.
