Robots & Humans: Are we heading towards Singularity? – INDIAai

Imagine what will happen if we robots can process information, store data and transfer the same at a pace at which humans do, will they not be as good as humans? Just to let you know we will touch on one aspect in this article (Quantum Computing) which takes care of processing information, however there is tremendous progress already made to store information like our DNA and also transmit the same like our nervous system does.

As the smartest creatures on Earth, our journey from the analogue to the digital world has been at a tremendous pace in the past decades.

There was a time, few decades ago, when invention of electronic calculator marked a major breakthrough in the world of technology. The transformational advancements of processing information since then have been remarkable. Undoubtedly, we have come a long way with smartphones, wearable and smart devices, shifting from press the keys to touch, swipe and speak.

With Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), Internet of Things (IoT) and Metaverse being technological realities today, we are also heading towards a new era of data & computation called quantum computing.

Now, Whats That?

Well, quantum computing is a futuristic technology which employs the power of quantum mechanics for solving extremely complex problems that are beyond the capacity of classical computers. To define it simply, this computer-based technology functions around the quantum theory principals where behaviours of matter and energy are studied on the atomic and subatomic levels.

Supercomputers designed on quantum theory consume comparative less energy while operating at an exponentially higher speed.

This quantum computer implements the laws of quantum mechanism for such complex calculation which are much beyond human comprehensions.

Tech titans envision that humans will be accelerated into the future by quantum computing through its impact on data analytics and artificial intelligence. Its massive speed and power shall help us crack even the complex challenges that we, human beings, face.

In the Next Decades, What If I Say That Robots Can Become a Challenge to the Humans?

If thats going to happen, it would be for AI and quantum technology. Scientists have already started to research on bridging the two avenues quantum physics having its strong algorithms and artificial intelligence coupled with autonomous machines. They are investigating the ways to use quantum technology for the advantage of learning robots. So far, the results show that robots can decide faster.

#Case Study:

A team of experimental physicists led by Philip Walther from The University of Vienna collaborated with theoreticians from German Aerospace Center, the Austrian Academy of Sciences and University of Innsbruck. Together, for the first time, they succeeded in proving the increase in actual learning time of a robot. Their experiment included the use of fundamental particles of light, single photons and integrated photonic quantum processor. The researchers implemented learning tasks by using this processor as a robot. The result showed significant reduction in the learning time, compared to the no quantum physics cases.

Hence, artificial intelligence devices that are integrated with quantum computing are capable of self-correction and learning through experience, much like humans.

Sounds interesting?Let me make it more intriguing for you.

As the speed of quantum computing is significantly higher than the traditional machines, this could result in quantum robots if rapid responses are recorded. Such robots are envisioned to be highly advanced and way more sophisticated, with unparalleled capabilities of multitasking. Not just that, but they will also be able to fully examine and adapt to various environments for survival, becoming independently more creative and data processing at a greater speed.

Scientists also opine that the concept of technological singularity will be possible, which signifies machines will be more progressive and smarter than humans.

Upcoming: Robots with Human Intelligence

Yes! You read that right.

Plans are already on to build robots that would share similar values as well as rights like us. They will have the ability to understand the world like humans, have same feelings as well as emotional spectrum. Such human-like technology will profoundly change our relationship with technology and the world around us.

What next?

Remember the movie titled Transcendence? The protagonist uploads his consciousness into quantum computer and outsmarts death! Well, what you might have thought to be unrealistic then may not be so today. Popular predictions say that humans will soon become transhumans through the concept of virtual or digital immortality. We already have quantum computer amongst us, though not a consumer product, but commercially available.

How would this technology make it happen?

Well, going back to its definition again, quantum computers utilise quantum bits or qubits. These tiny physical objects help them cope with highly complex problems and extremely large volumes of data in less than a second. Hence, storing a humans memories and personality would be an effortless job for the quantum computers.

Recent breakthroughs show that narrow AI can perform certain tasks much better than humans. It wont be surprising to say that artificial intelligence will emulate the human skill, i.e. responding to various tasks, and thereby, put our race at a challenge in the future.

Coming back to digital immortality, it is a theoretical concept of transferring and storing an individuals consciousness into a robot, a virtual body or a computer. The required technology with appropriate hardware for this transfer is expected to arrive soon in this decade, although several milestones are needed to be achieved yet.

Digital Immortality: How far are we?

Once a persons consciousness is uploaded, it can be stored in two different ways:

From there, it can easily interact with the physical as well as the virtual worlds. The fascinating result would be that the persons consciousness will remain alive in a virtual space for thousands and thousands of years to come. Thats not all. He can also travel to various virtual worlds and download content for enriched experience. Being still alive, he can work with his own digital clones to accomplish essential jobs in real life faster.

Quite a far future though, the second instance says human beings will possibly grow or build completely new bodies. While models may vary with the type of technology used, the least expensive one could be machine-like or robotic in appearance.

Fast forwarding many decades from today, we might have these machines as highly expensive synthetic bodies similar to the real human bodies using several hi-tech features to enhance their mental and physical capabilities. Moving thousands of years further, the world might have so advanced synthetic bodies that their capabilities would probably exceed our wildest imaginations today. If need be, new versions of these bodies can also come up.

According to the predictions of renowned futurist, Ray Kurzweil, uploading the human mind would be possible in the next quarter century, though perfection might need a lot of time.

In a major breakthrough in research a year ago, one of the most complex organs, eyes of mice, were reprogrammed in a lab. If a human goes blind when older, he/she never recovers the vision. Hence, the experiment was done on one-year old mice using gene therapy where their retinas were turned to be young again. Three out of the four reprogramming factors were implemented. Scientists successfully reversed aging in their retinas taking those backwards to around two months old in age. The mice could clearly see everything again much, like they saw when young. Additionally, the system can be turned on and off whenever required. Scientists confirmed that this can be done with any tissue to reverse aging, not going back too far though.

Probably, the concept of death will vanish in a century or so owing to the dynamic evolution of technology. Humans will just be moving from one body to another, with their memory and consciousness stored in the form of data.

To say so, its just the beginning for us to understand what possibilities artificial intelligence have. Every new and successful experiment, thus, adds to the development of the scope of quantum computing. IBM believes that quantum computing will become the mainstream technology in probably the next 5 years. At this point, can we look back to our mythology and sum up that our culture has been talking about it since eons?

Food for thought:

In simple terms, History for which we dont have documented proof is called Mythology. Do you think we will need to document or even speak 100 years from now? We have already moved from paper documents to speaking in a mic and recording the artefacts, why is it not possible to just transfer thoughts from one person (robot) to another without any speech or text?

New Russia Sanctions Imposed as Ukraine War Continues: Expansion of Controls on EAR99 Items and Military End-Uses – Wilson Sonsini Goodrich &…

The U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) announced an expansion of existing export controls and imposition of additional sanctions against the Russian Federation (Russia) and Belarus in response to continued aggression toward Ukraine. Effective September 15, 2022, these actions are intended to "clarify and enhance the effectiveness of U.S. controls and to better align [U.S.] controls on both Russia and Belarus with those implemented by U.S. allies" and "reflect the U.S. Government's position that Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and Belarus's complicity in the invasion, flagrantly violated international law, is contrary to U.S. national security and foreign policy interests, and undermines global order, peace, and security."1Among other changes, thisFinal Ruleadds controls on the export of certain EAR99 items to Russia and Belarus, expands the foreign direct product rule to also include certain EAR99 items, and expands controls on exports to military end-users and/or for military end-uses.

Most notably, the Final Rule, "Implementation of Additional Sanctions Against Russia and Belarus Under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Refinements to Existing Controls," expands the scope of Russian industry sector sanctions that previously controlled the export of items used in oil and gas production to now include the export of certain items that are viewed as potentially useful for Russia's chemical and biological weapons capabilities and Russia's defense-industrial base. These items are listed inSupplement Number 6 to Part 746, and include certain chemicals, biologics, fentanyl and its precursors, and nucleic acid sequencers, as well as quantum computing and advanced manufacturing items. Additionally, 57 new entries of industrial machinery, equipment, and related parts or accessories that could support Russia's defense-industrial base were added toSupplement Number 4 to Part 746. Supplement Number 4 includes, among a variety of other items, certain cameras and industrial robots. Due to concerns about the diversion of items from Belarus to Russia, the Final Rule adds Belarus to the industry sector sanctions that previously applied solely to Russia under 15 CFR 746.5.

Among other changes, the Final Rule also:

Finally, in addition to the new export controls implemented by BIS, OFAC expanded the prohibition onaccounting, trust and corporate formation services, and management consulting sectorsto any person located in the Russian Federation to include aprohibition on providing quantum computing servicesand alsoimposed restrictionson 22 additional officials and two entities in Russia, adding them to the ever-growing list of sanctioned parties in Russia.

We will continue to closely monitor the evolving regulations and welcome you to reach out with any questions. Please feel free to contactJosephine Aiello LeBeau,Mike Casey,Anne Seymour,Jahna Hartwig,Kara Millard, or another member of Wilson Sonsini'snational securitypractice for more information.

How Marcus Mumford turned torment into healing on solo album – Los Angeles Times

Marcus Mumford opens his debut solo album with the most personal and straightforward and probably the finest song hes ever released: Cannibal, a stark acoustic ballad (at least until it erupts with pounding drums and pealing guitars) about the sexual abuse Mumford endured when he was 6 years old.

I can still taste you and I hate it, he sings over a hushed beating-heart riff, his dry, papery voice as close as your own thoughts, There wasnt a choice in the mind of a child and you knew it. The song in which Mumford goes on to describe the toll of keeping his abuse secret for decades is a startling achievement of emotional honesty from the 35-year-old singer and songwriter best known as the frontman of Englands foot-stomping, Grammy-winning Mumford & Sons.

But its not the only one on the deeply moving (self-titled), which Mumford made in Los Angeles with producer Blake Mills (a Grammy winner himself for his work with Alabama Shakes) and a crew of famous collaborators including Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo. After Cannibal on the LP comes Grace, a jittery folk-rock jam that recounts Mumfords playing Cannibal for his mom for the first time; other tunes ponder faith both his parents are preachers guilt and self-deception amid arrangements that lurch and glimmer in unexpected ways.

Mumford, who has two children with Oscar-nominated actress Carey Mulligan, sat down in a recording studio in Hollywood to talk about the album, due Friday, and the future of Mumford & Sons, whose banjo player Winston Marshall quit last year after being criticized for voicing a variety of conservative beliefs.

Youve made a record about a painful experience thats relatively uncommon Uncommon, you think? Im starting to think its more and more common than any of us think it is.

But its significance means youre being asked after having written songs about it to discuss the experience again in interviews. Does that seem like a terrible fate? No. Writing the songs felt like a natural part of the process for me as an artist who processes things through writing songs. Now, the first time I told the story amongst my community my friends and my family it was full-blown PTSD. Vomit, breathing, all that stuff. But the point of trauma work is to be able to tell the story without reliving it. So by the time Cannibal came out, Id already done the work. Its not hugely emotionally charged for me at this point, and I dont think Im kidding myself with that.

You sing about forgiving your abuser in the albums closer, How. As an outsider, it feels almost impossible to understand your ability to get there.I really, really believe in healing. I really believe in recovery. And I believe in it because Ive lived it. But I dont think its one and done. Its left-foot/right-foot, Aristotelian-type virtue stuff. If you want to be honest, you practice honesty, and if you want to be healed, you practice healing. Thatll be a process Im in for the rest of my life, which is fine because its much better than the alternative. But thats why its not wrapped up in a bow in the music. The lyric in How, its not like, Its all good I forgive you. At the beginning of the record, I say, If I could forgive you, and at the end its I will.

The first time I heard Cannibal, I obviously didnt know it was going to explode at the end. But every time Ive heard it since, that knowledge has colored my experience of the song. What does it make you feel?

I think it makes it slightly easier to go along with the narrator because you know catharsis is looming.Thats why I felt it was important to get Grace out quite quickly after Cannibal. Grace starts out: Well, how should we proceed / Without things getting too heavy? The demo for Grace was called I Just Want to F Around, because its like, OK, thats done now. Hopefully it represents some of the freedom and playfulness that has come despite this and that I do believe comes in peoples lives despite whatever they go through.

What was the response among the people in your life to a recent GQ article in which you spoke publicly for the first time about your abuse?I got more messages directly to my phone than I have for anything since we headlined Glastonbury. Some of them surprised me: Are you OK? I wouldnt have put the song out if I wasnt OK. Then Ive had a lot of responses of people telling me about their own stuff.

Are you open to that?I normally say, like, Thank you for sharing that, because it takes some effort to share it. I dont feel responsible for any kind of particular response, though I do think it presents a new challenge, one Id spent some time thinking about already. And one I asked for help on from some people who know much better than I do. The lyrics on the record, I went through each one with a trauma specialist.

To what end?Well, Im not a terrorist. But at the same time Im an artist who wants to reflect reality in my songs. So we went through it all and, actually, they felt there were no problems.

No triggers.Effectively. They use the word activation now instead of trigger. In a lot of trauma work its about: What are you responsible for and what are you not? And the main piece of advice I took on that was from an interview of Beyoncs, which was to always leave people with hope at the end of every record. I felt like I could try and achieve that because that was the reality of my situation.

Were womens voices something you knew from the beginning would be an important part of this album? It was intentional but it wasnt calculated. Honestly, Ive worked in a male-dominated environment for such a long time that it was a relief. I leaned a lot on Lucy Dickins, my agent; Jody Gerson, my publisher; Michelle Jubelirer with my label. And my wife, which is why the records dedicated to her. The feminine energy going into it was more present than it ever had been, and I found that every time I hit a brick wall, it was a woman who came along and helped lift me over it. I played Brandi the first two songs and she put her arm around me and said, Dude, whatever it takes to help get this out of you, I will do.

Actually, Elton [John] did the same thing within the same 24-hour period. We went out for dinner, and they both were like, We havent seen you since COVID and now you seem really different. I said, Well, there have been some changes, and Ive written some songs about it. That night I drove Elton home and played him the first two songs in the car. And up until that point hed been like, Darling, whatever you do, dont do anything else outside the band. Youve got to keep the band together at all costs. I played him those two songs and he said, This is definitely going to be a solo record.

Everything in my life has got better without drinking, so Im not in a rush to go back to it, says Marcus Mumford.

(Myung J. Chun/Los Angeles Times)

Does this project feel fundamentally different from Mumford & Sons?It does. I worked harder on the craft of this record than I ever have in the band. Theres a spirit in the band, which has always been: Lets just try and get down versions of the songs that will act as advertisements for our live show, which is where its really at. I said that to Neil Young once, and he was like, Nah, mate you got it all wrong. And now I think he was right.

What Id want is that the band could represent to me the same creative curiosity that the making of this record felt like. We havent gotten in a room and written music together again yet, so I dont know if it can. But theres so much I love about Ben [Lovett] and Ted [Dwane] and playing with them. Ive got a bunch of songs I want to show them, and hopefully itll be a better creative engine than it has been in the past.

Winstons departure created a certain messiness, though. There are people who are turned off Mumford & Sons because of his admiration for right-wing provocateurs like Andy Ngo and Jordan Peterson. And there are people turned off by the fact that hes not in the band anymore.

Is that messiness a burden to return to?I feel like weve dealt with a bunch of it. I dont feel the need for band statements. You start writing band statements, youre gonna write a hundred of them in a year at a time like this. Musicians are terrible spokespeople. Its not what you want.

What is lambing? The GQ story said you do it at your farm at home in England.Lambing is when you help ewes deliver their young. Its a verb: I lamb, you lamb, we lamb. Theres all these amazing words in Devon, where we live. Tedding is when you cut the hay in the field and you turn it so that one side dries in the sun.

Youre really about that farm life.I think its helpful to have things that completely distract your brain from the thing that you do. And I spend so much of my time working in cities that when Im not working for a long period of time and if Careys not working for a period of time we like to be in the countryside.

Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford arrive at the Academy Awards in 2021.

(Chris Pizzello / Pool Photo)

You and your wife met at church camp when you were 12, long before either of you were famous. Would you ever have pictured yourself married to a movie star?No way. That was never in my head. When we got together, I think we recognized in each other the kind of person that wed been, that wed so enjoyed as kids that wed written letters to each other and stayed in touch outside of camp. So we instantly were like, Oh, I know you. The fact that we both do this other stuff, Im sure it helps us relate, connect, whatever.

Fair to say that, prior to the two of you reconnecting, you would have gone out of your way to avoid some kind of Hollywood hookup?I was a fat kid from London. No starlets were knocking down the door.

Youve spoken recently about struggling with addiction.Did I use that language? Im not sure I used addiction. I think I used addictive behaviors.

But youll be back on the road soon with all its temptations.Im stoked about doing that with a bit more control. Its not daunting to me because I feel like I know myself better. And Im not so binary in my view of addiction anymore. I think addictive behaviors are like faders on a mixing desk. Whenever somethings too high in the mix, it dominates everything else.

Do you drink at all now?I just havent. It felt like low-hanging fruit for me because I was able to stop before I had to stop. I didnt require the 12-step stuff, so in that sense I guess I probably could drink. But everything in my life has got better without drinking, so Im not in a rush to go back to it.

Last thing: Steven Spielberg directed his first-ever music video for Cannibal. Did you worry about whether or not your song was good enough to live up to that billing? No. First off, it wasnt like we had a list of famous directors that we went through and Spielberg said yes. He and [wife] Kate [Capshaw] heard the record and got it. And hes just made this movie about his childhood and was in a period of time where it seemed like he really believed in art being a helpful tool in processing stuff.

So, weirdly I mean, I get how strange this is the video felt like the safest place to launch this record. In the room it was Steven; Kate; Kristie [Macosko Krieger], their producer; Carey and me. No production, no lights, literally a phone. Steven was like, Man, I havent operated a camera in a while! It was so intimate, and I felt so understood.

I generally hate music videos. Just feels like a weird concept. But I sent the cut to my folks, and my dad called me at 3 oclock in the morning having watched it. Hed already heard the song a bunch, but the visual helped him process what the song is about. He was like, OK, can we talk this through?

YouTubers Are Profiting Off Anti-Amber Heard and Meghan Markle Content – Jezebel

A new investigation by Bot Sentinelthe same research group that unearthed rampant pro-Johnny Depp harassment campaigns in Julyofferedsimilarly jarring revelations this week: At least two dozen YouTube channels with flagrant policy violations were allowed to continue posting without any consequence from YouTube moderators, and all while still getting paid. Among the most common subject matter of their videos were misogynist lies and attacks on women like Amber Heard and Meghan Markle, who have both been spoken extensively about the heavy toll of online abuse on their well-being. Thousands of videos threatening and making defamatory claims about Heard and Markle, in particular, have remained live, despite violating YouTubes policiesand theres evidence the video platform itself profits from this hate.

YouTube says it prohibits malicious insults targeting famous or identifiable individuals. Yet, Bot Sentinel estimates that five accounts focused singularly on attacking Markle received a total of $42,000 in monthly payments, with ad profits shared with YouTube. At the height of the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Heard, one account made over 128 videos about Heard that violated this policy and also made defamatory claims about her.

Bot Sentinel identified one case of a YouTuber who said in his videos that Markle deserves to be strangled to death, and said as recently as Monday that Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, should be shot at dawnno action has been taken, despite how Bot Sentinels founder, Christopher Bouzy, told Rolling Stone hed personally reported these videos.

A lot of these folks would not do what theyre doing if YouTube was not rewarding them. And lets be clear here, they are rewarding them, Bouzy said. When you allow these folks to monetize this content and youre the company that is paying them, at the end of the day, youre pretty much facilitating the harassment, the vitriol that were currently seeing.

Many of these videos evade detection from content moderators, Bot Sentinels research suggests, through deceptive practices like featuring a thumbnail totally unrelated to the contents of the video.

G/O Media may get a commission

Bite-sized language lessonsBabbel's language lessons are created by real language experts to help you converse in real-world conversations.

As someone whos spent more than five minutes on the internet, none of this is exactly shocking information: Watch one questionable video on YouTube, and suddenly your feed is awash with an endless queue of videos calling domestic violence victims liars, accusing Markle of killing the Queen, hyping up Jordan Peterson for owning feminists. But in the continued aftermath of Depp and Heards stomach-churning defamation trial, and given that Markle once experienced suicidal ideation over the constant barrage of hate she faced, Bot Sentinels findings are especially chilling. These dehumanizing smear campaigns are certainly driven by misogyny, racism, and hatebut theyre also, apparently, driven by profit incentive for platforms like YouTube.

And its not just YouTube: In July, Bot Sentinel found that users behind thousands of tweets that included one of four viral hashtags (#AmberHeardIsAnAbuser, #AmberHeardLsAnAbuser, #AmberHeardIsALiar, and #AmberHeardLsALiar) came from accounts that were dedicated to spamming. Hateful posts on platforms like YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, and other corners of the internet form an unchecked feedback loop of viral lies and inspiration for more hateful contentand all of these companies profit from this.

Bouzy told Rolling Stone the ramifications of YouTube allowing creators to profit off hate speech and liesand taking a cut of the moneyis dangerous not just because of the toll on wealthy, famous women like Heard and Markle. Lax enforcement of policies also puts journalists or private individuals at risk. No one is safe when content creators are financially incentivized to go viral by spewing hate. And if the unsettling success of attack campaigns targeting Heard and Markle reveal anything, its that women of color and women who come forward about experiencing sexual violence will be the most vulnerable and unprotected.

Bitcoin briefly drops to its lowest level in 3 months as risk assets continue to get crushed – CNBC

Ether has hugely outperformed bitcoin since both cryptocurrencies formed a bottom in June 2022. Ether's superior gains have come as investors anticipate a major upgrade to the ethereum blockchain called "the merge."

Bitcoin fell to its lowest level in three months on Monday as investors dumped risk assets amid expectations of higher interest rates.

The world's largest cryptocurrency dropped as much as about 5% to hit an intraday low of $18,276, its lowest level since June 19, according to Coin Metrics. It was last down 1.2% at $19,465.00. Bitcoin is down 3.77% this month and on pace for the second straight negative month after plunging 15% in August.

"Regulatory pressure, rising base rates, and inflation are pressing heavily on riskier asset classes, especially crypto, and are thus forcing liquidations, reducing capital available for investment, and increasing concerns over undefined regulatory controls," said Sadie Raney, co-founder and head of operations at Strix Leviathan. "These forces may mute the overall crypto complex until the financial system stabilizes and a regulatory framework becomes more clear."

Ether also fell a similar 5% to $1,281 apiece Monday, hitting its lowest level since July 15. It was last lower by 1.6% at $19,465.00. It's currently down -13.8% this month, on track to post its worst month since June.

Risk assets have been under massive pressure as the Federal Reserve is expected to stick to its aggressive tightening schedule. The central bank is widely expected to approve this weeka third consecutive 0.75 percentage point interest rate increasethat would take benchmark rates up to a range of 3%-3.25%.

"Retail buyers have a long term outlook on bitcoin while institutional traders are treating digital assets like tech stocks and adopting a short term mentality that's contributing to the selloff we're seeing," said Chris Kline, chief revenue officer and co-founder of Bitcoin IRA. "The tightening policy at the Fed is strengthening the dollar and is weighing down risk assets, overall."

So-called "whales" institutions, miners, or other holders of large amounts of bitcoin, typically with more than 1,000 bitcoins in a wallet have been hedging the macro condition and selling their coins since June, according to Julio Moreno, senior analyst at blockchainanalytics firmCryptoQuant.

That's evidenced by the increasing amount of coins being sent to exchanges and dumped onto retail investors, who believe bitcoin is finding a bottom at these levels, though it actually has further to go, he said.

CryptoQuant data shows bitcoin bottoming at between $10,000 and $14,500 this cycle.

Ethereum, Bitcoin Slide Further Through The Weekend – Decrypt

The sugar high of the Ethereum merge on Thursday led into a dour weekend of red for both the newly miner-free ETH and top crypto Bitcoin.

Ethereum is down from its pre-merge perch of $1,580 to $1,335 as of this writing, following a steep drop of 6% within hours of the merge and down 15% overall late Sunday.

Bitcoin, meanwhile, fell to $19,414 on Friday, and saw a brief rally take it above $20,000 on Saturday. The boost was shortlived, however, with the largest cryptocurrency by marketcap returning to its Friday lows as the weekend drew to a close.

Ethereum was down 22% for the week, and Bitcoin was down 10%. The declines echo a similarly down previous week in which overall economic metricsranging from the Consumer Price Index to traditional market indicators Nasdaq and the S&P 500also fell.

But Ethereum's sinking fortunes following the merge belies some analysts' assertions immediately following the upgrade that the impact of the merge on the value of ETH had already been priced into the market.

Prior to the conversion, some had even predicted a "merge surge," But the momentary jump in the price of ETH quickly evaporated. Prominent crypto Twitter commentator Doctor Profit announced today that he had sold all of his Ethereum.

The weekend also brought reports of the first "replay attack" targeting the Ethereum and the recently hardforked EthereumPoW blockchains. As with the invalid blockchain setting that briefly delayed the launch of ETHW, this exploit was caused by the failure to verify the chainlink ID to determine on which blockchain a transaction was taking place.

As for Bitcoin, its total market cap was headed back toward its six-week low of $18,661 on Sept. 6, territory it hasn't touched since the end of June. Bitcoin's total market cap was back below $375 billion on Sunday, a threshold last breached on Sept. 6 and not since July 13 before that.

For his part, Doctor Profitwhose main claim to fame is predicting $18,000 as the "ultimate bottom" for Bitcoin as early as April 2021said that "the bottom is being formed" with a likely prince range of $18,000 to $25,000 through next March.

But a lot hinges on the next move announced by the U.S. Federal Reserve, he warns. While Doctor Profit feels Bitcoin's price can withstand a 0.75 basis point increase in interest rates, a full 1 basis point will mean "we see blood."

"Once the FED decides the great reset, all of us will be fkd," he tweeted.

The last Federal Reserve meeting in July yielded a 0.75% increase. The next meeting, set for Sept. 21, will likely bring another increasethe main question being how big an increase. Some are expecting Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to announce a full percent hike.

TA: Bitcoin Price Makes U-Turn, Why BTC Could Tumble to $18K – NewsBTC

Bitcoin started a fresh decline below the $20,000 support zone against the US Dollar. BTC traded below $19,000 and remains at a risk of a move to $18,000.

Bitcoin price failed to surpass the $20,500 resistance level. BTC started a fresh decline and traded below the $20,000 and $19,500 support levels.

Besides, there was a break below a connecting bullish trend line with support at $19,850 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair. The pair accelerated lower below the $19,200 level and the 100 hourly simple moving average. It even declined below $19,000 and traded as low as $18,706.

Bitcoin price is now consolidating losses below $19,200 and the 100 hourly simple moving average. On the upside, an immediate resistance is near the $19,050 level. It is near the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $20,197 swing high to $18,706 low.

The next major resistance sits near the $19,350 level. It coincides with the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $20,197 swing high to $18,706 low.

The main barrier is now forming near the $20,000 zone and the 100 hourly simple moving average. A close above the $20,000 resistance might start a fresh increase. In the stated case, the price may perhaps rise towards $21,200.

If bitcoin fails to start a recovery wave above the $19,050 resistance zone, it could continue to move down. An immediate support on the downside is near the $18,700 zone.

The next major support is near the $18,550 level. A clear move below the $18,700 and $18,550 levels might open the doors for a move towards the $18,000 level.

Technical indicators:

Hourly MACD The MACD is now gaining pace in the bearish zone.

Hourly RSI (Relative Strength Index) The RSI for BTC/USD is now below the 50 level.

Major Support Levels $18,700, followed by $18,550.

Major Resistance Levels $19,050, $19,300 and $19,500.

Anonymous Bitcoin Whale Just Moved $64M Worth Of BTC Off Coinbase – Bitcoin (BTC/USD) – Benzinga

What happened: A Bitcoin BTC/USD whale just sent $64,972,841 worth of Bitcoin off Coinbase.

The BTC address associated with this transaction has been identified as: 1HxNTUuJiuMnegCbV33zLA6EX9AHnqK3mr.

Why it matters: Bitcoin "Whales" (investors who own $10 million or more in BTC) typically send cryptocurrency from exchanges when planning to hold their investments for an extended period of time. Storing large amounts of money on an exchange presents an additional risk of theft, as exchange wallets are the most sought-after target for cryptocurrency hackers.

The best way to secure Bitcoin is through holding it on a hardware wallet, which can't be done through holding digital assets on an exchange. Hardware wallets store one's private keys in an offline device, making it impossible for funds to be hacked via the internet.

According to Glassnode, only 12.49% of the total supply remains liquid across all centralized exchanges.

The removal of BTC from an exchange reduces potential sell side pressure, allowing the price of Bitcoin to increase more easily.

Bitcoin is Heading to $14,000: Heres Why According to DataDash – CryptoPotato

Nicholas Merten a veteran cryptocurrency analyst and founder of DataDash has called for Bitcoin to sink to $14,000 following its plunge below $19,000 over the weekend.

The analyst cited both technical and macroeconomic factors, including an indicator that he calls absolutely damning for Bitcoins price.

In a video published on Monday, Merten pointed out that Bitcoins 200-week moving average (WMA) has turned into a level of price resistance, rather than support. The primary cryptocurrency has almost always stayed above the average throughout its existence, with rare descents below it marking cyclical bottoms.

However, Bitcoin and crypto markets fell below this level during the crypto market crash in June, which saw Bitcoin plunge to $17,600. It has since ranged within the low twenty thousands narrowly below the 200 WMA of about $23,000.

Given its inability to break back above this level, the analyst claimed that Bitcoin is now in uncharted territory.

We have not seen these circumstances ever play out for Bitcoin, he said. Usually price breaks below the weekly moving averages, the rallies out of it, due to people buying into the capitulation.

The founder concluded that Bitcoins recent price action likely signals the end of a decade-long secular bull market that Bitcoin has experienced throughout its life, alongside stocks. As such, he suspects that it may no longer be a leading asset compared to other commodities and equities.

According to the analyst, the cryptocurrencys next bottom could be close to $14,000. This would mark an 80% correction from its all-time high, similar to previous bear markets.

This is the bare minimum we can ask for at this point, said Merten, adding that investors should consider the possibility of an even steeper decline to $10,000.

Commenting on Ethereums recent Merge, Merten labeled the upgrade a clear buy the hype, sell the news event. He expects the second-largest cryptocurrency to retest the $800 to $1000 level, and possibly lower.

Contributing to potential declines is the Federal Reserves upcoming interest rate decision, in which the market expects another 75 basis point hike. Hawkish monetary policy has coincided with major declines in stocks and crypto throughout 2022.

This policy has created a higher cost of shelter in the United States, including sudden rises in fixed-rate mortgages. Its also caused 2-year Treasury bond yields to invert those of their 10 and 30-year equivalents.

Despite the potential dangers to the economy this could pose, Merten doesnt expect the central bank to stop raising rates until it can confidently quell inflation.

This could very well be depressionary levels of recession, he said.
