Letter: Needing to look deeper for true cause of high US gun deaths – Standard-Examiner

Every person alive has a truth and every one of us has a right to our truths, opinions and assumptions. How we act on them is what matters. If you wish to criticize me for mine, no foul. If you take it beyond words, you have entered a whole different universe. Actions, we must be more than careful.

Last year guns killed people all over the world. In Japan it was 10 people, in Great Britain 50, in Switzerland 47, in Canada 611, in Sweden 41, in the U.S. it was 38,658.

This violent disparity is possible by the kind of war weapons most efficient at ending human life, yes, BUT such disparity in ending human life speaks to some deep wound riding care free in the bowels of our great nation. There is something unnatural going on.

When is it reasonable to look through and beyond the symptoms of a behavior and ask what is really at cause?

Dare we ask, is there a belief system that presents itself as of ultimate good, yet inspires the kind of behavior that can in a warped mind pull a trigger?

Make no mistake, guns are an extension of a human mind, yes, but an extension that believes something. Is it the something that we should be paying attention to?

Each of us needs to feel that we are remarkable at something. A human mind that feels UNfulfilled in normal human interactions is a breeding ground for alternative forms of fulfillment-behavior.

What did that person with a finger on the trigger believe?

In all the counties mentioned which country has the highest density of fundamentalist religious believers?

What kind of belief could possibly reach such extreme behavior? Are we looking at the wrong symptoms? Triggers dont pull themselves.
