Box, Deutsche Telekom team up on cloud collaboration

Summary: European cell giant Deutsche Telekom and enterprise cloud storage firm Box have teamed up, allowing customers to collaborate through the cloud.

Deutsche Telekom, the owner of T-Mobile USA, has partnered with enterprise cloud storage giant Box to offer a cloud-based collaboration serviceto small-to-medium-sized (SMB) businesses.

TheBonn, Germany-basedtelecoms giant will use Box's enterprise-grade security and collaboration features as a supported and trusted service in its Business Marketplace, an online application store for businesses on the lookout for cloud-based enterprise software and services.

Deutsche Telekom customers can now buy and start collaborating using the Box platform, available on a multitude of devices that allows customers to access cloud-stored documents and files from anywhere. Because it's tied to aDeutsche Telekom account, it allows billing and support, single sign-on and login access for all user accounts.

While German customers will be targeted first, other countries within Europe will be on board in the "near future."

Box has kept well ahead of the post-PC device trend curve and continues to stay ahead of its rivals in the enterprise space by offering highly secure access to cloud-stored documents at any given time from a variety of devices, including the desktop.

The firm has more than 14 million customers supporting 140,000 businesses. It's branched out to London and significantly increased its employee base in the past year alone.

The enterprise cloud storage firm recently announced it would team up with ten new partners, including Oracle, SugarCRM and Netsuite, allowing the enterprise cloud storage firm to use a HTML5-embeddable framework that allows third-party users to take advantage of Box's cloud-stored content.

Less than a month later, Box rolled out its Windows 8 application for the new Microsoft operating system, an expansion from existing iOS and Android devices.
