Singtel eyes integration with Telkomsel – iTWire

Singaporean telecommunications provider Singtel plans to integrate its Indonesian partner Telkom's fixed broadband business into its regional wireless associate provider Telkomsel, reported The Business Times.

In a stock market statement, Singtel said the integration represents rare opportunity for Telkomsel to enter Indonesias high-growth fixed broadband market with an industry leader (Telkom) that has some 70% share of (the) market."

Singtel owns a 35% stake in Telkomsel.

The report noted negotiations are still ongoing but there is no certainty whether the integration will push through.

Last year, Singtel partnered with Telkom to expand its regional data centre strategy operations. Singtel will also support Telkomsel's "transformation" through a fixed mobile convergence strategy with Telkom.

According to analysts cited by The Business Times report, Telkom is among the few telcos in Indonesia that have started to introduce mobile broadband bundles as demand for video streaming in the region is strong.

Reducing WAN latency is one of the biggest issues with hybrid cloud performance. Taking advantage of compression and data deduplication can reduce your network latency.

Research firm, Markets and Markets, predicted that the hybrid cloud market size is expected to grow from US$38.27 billion in 2017 to US$97.64 billion by 2023.

Colocation facilities provide many of the benefits of having your servers in the cloud while still maintaining physical control of your systems.

Cloud adjacency provided by colocation facilities can enable you to leverage their low latency high bandwidth connections to the cloud as well as providing a solid connection back to your on-premises corporate network.
