ServInt, a pioneering provider of managed cloud hosting for enterprises worldwide, today was recognized as a founding member of the new Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2Coalition). ServInt Chief Operating Officer Christian Dawson is co-founder and board chair of the i2Coalition (www.i2Coalition), which officially launched today.

Through his work over the past year as co-founder of the Save Hosting Coalition (www.savehosting.org), Dawson played a key role in preventing the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) from becoming law. After mobilizing to ensure the Internets free flow of information and commerce, Dawson and other executives realized the ongoing need for an industry voice.

The i2Coalition is that voice. It supports enterprises that make significant investments and drive innovation for the infrastructure of the Internet including web hosting and data-center providers, registries and registrars, software and service delivery and cloud computing services.

We in the Internet infrastructure industry know how the Internet works because we are the ones building and maintaining it every day, Dawson said. It is critical to join forces to fight for an Internet that is unfettered by unnecessary regulation and able to reach its full potential for creating jobs and propelling innovation.

He concluded, The i2Coalition is the ideal resource to educate legislators on how the Internet works, so they can fully understand it before proposing legislation.

According to a market research study by Tier1 Research, the Internet infrastructure industry generated and estimated direct and indirect $46 billion in annual revenue in 2010 with expected 20 percent growth by 2013, and a trade flow to the United States of $9.2 billion. New jobs require a reliable infrastructure for the Internet, and the industry supports innovation at every level.
