Local SMEs will need cloud computing to grow & compete regionally – tech whizzkid Chan Kee Siak

KUALA LUMPUR Malaysias leading web-hosting and cloud hosting provider, Exabytes Network Sdn Bhd (Exabytes), has joined forces with MDeC to outset the MSC Malaysia Cloud Initiatives SAAS Acceleration Program aimed to provide an ideal growth environment for Malaysian ICT small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to transform themselves into world-class companies.

According to CEO and Founder of Exabytes, Chan Kee Siak, the Exabytes and MDeC partnership is in response to the growing competitiveness of Malaysian SMEs in leveraging the cloud computing ecosystem in Malaysia for their business operations.

Exabytes is excited to partner with be part of this very important MDec initiative, as we and will play a crucial role in supporting the program. It is part of Exabytes corporate objective to develop the Malaysian ICT sector in line with the maturing local market of more savvy providers and consumers.

MDeC is of course the Multimedia Development Corporation, which directs and oversees Malaysias National ICT (Information & Communication Technology) initiative - the MSC Malaysia (formerly known as the Multimedia Super Corridor in Malaysia).

To reach out, Chan's firm is awarding up to RM3,000 worth of free cloud hosting or 6 months (which ever come first) for the first 50 applications as part of the grand plan to help MSC status companies grow.

Targets

Chan says that the program opens up opportunities for local providers to grow their business both locally and regionally. What better way to go global than to link in with government initiatives such as this project that is specially developed for companies within MSC Malaysia ecosystem, he says.

The program is part of MSC Malaysias larger plan to achieve the following objectives:

> 60 Online Solution Providers on the Cloud by end 2012

> 6000 New *Digital Enterprise by end 2015 (*Malaysian SMEs utilizing ICT solutions and conducting business online)
