L2W3 (Learn To World Wide Web)
L2W3, which stands for "Learn to World Wide Web", is a free STEM oriented educational platform for students. L2W3 will provide online curriculum, free cloud hosting, and inner-city classrooms all for free. Why? According to the US Bureau of Statistics, in the next five years, STEM jobs are projected to grow twice as quickly as jobs in other fields. While all jobs are expected to grow by 10.4%, STEM jobs are expected to increase by 21.4%. Similarly, 80% of jobs in the next decade will require technical skills. The World Wide Web Consortium has published standards for web development, but most online resources still ignore these standards. W3Schools, while riddled with flaws, is one of the most used resources for learning web development skills. This creates a false impression of what is proper protocol for development on the web. L2W3 is an initiative to provide standardized curriculum, physical classrooms, and online tools to drive forward innovation and quality on the web. L2W3 will provide a unique experience for students that not only provides curriculum, but also a place to store projects in the cloud for free!
