The European Chess Union (ECU) invites all ECU National Chess Federations to participate in theEuropean Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2023 which will take place from September 27 to October 1 in Terme Catez, Slovenia.

The European Youth Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship 2023 includes three separate competitions:

(A) The 22nd European Youth Rapid Chess Championship To be played on 28 and 29 September, 2023, in 6 age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18, open and girls sections separately The tournament will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment per player in each section Prizes: the best 3 (three) players in each category will be awarded trophies, medals, and gift prizes.

(B) 22nd European Youth Blitz Chess Championship To be played on 30th of September, 2023, in 6 age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18, open and girls sections separately The event will be played in 9 double rounds, swiss system, with time control of 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment per player in each section Prizes: the best 3 (three) players in each category will be awarded trophies, medals, and gift prizes

(C) 21st European Youth Team Rapid Chess Championship To be played on September 29th, in three age categories: U10, U14, and U18, open and girls sections separately. The events will be held in 7 rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 10 minutes + 5 seconds per player in each category The teams shall consist of 4 players from the same federation without reserve players in the Open sections, and the teams of the girls sections shall comprise 2 players from the same federation without reserve players. Prizes: the best 3 (three) players in each category will be awarded trophies, medals, and gift prizes

Tournament schedule:

The event is open to all players representing chess federations which are the ECU members. There is no limit to the number of participants representing each federation. Entry forms must be filled in and sent to the tournament office no later than Monday 14 August. If the registration form is not completed by the federation itself, a copy has to be sent to the national federation.

The 22nd European Youth Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship will be played in Hotel Terme Catez, which is also the official hotel of the tournament.
