The 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health finds that 7.1 percent of Hispanic Americans have a substance use disorder, and 3 percent of Hispanic Americans have an illicit drug use disorder. While these rates do not differ greatly from the overall U.S. population, there is a gap when it comes to treatment. Studies show Hispanic Americans have less access to SUD treatment and must wait longer to access such services when compared to non-Hispanics. A relatively new sport, chess boxing came into existence in 1992 and has been embraced by many nations since. The sports governing bodies are the World Chess Boxing Organisation and the World Chess Boxing Association. Chess boxing was launched in Gujarat only in July 2021 but has become quite a popular sport.

Dutch artist Iepe Rubingh, who passed away in 2020, established the World Chess Boxing Organisation in 2003 in Berlin. The first World Chess boxing Championship took place in Amsterdam in the same year.

An amateur chess boxing match consists of 5-7 alternating rounds of chess and boxing, starting and ending with chess whereas, a professional match comprises 11 alternating rounds. Each round lasts three minutes, followed by a one-minute break. The chess rounds are played under time control, with a total of nine minutes allotted to each player.

The opening ceremony of the 10th National Chess Boxing Championship will take place on September 9. Grandmaster Tejas Bakre will play the opening match. All the matches will take place on September 10 and 11, and the prize distribution on September 11. The annual general meeting of the Chess Boxing Organisation of India will also take place in Ahmedabad on September 10. Reliance is the venue partner for the 10th National Chess Boxing Championship, while Simulations Public Affairs Management Services is the PR partner. Chess Chief (outside) edges Owendale in the New Orleans Classic

The Estate of James J. Coleman Jr.'s graded stakes winningChess Chieflooks to light up the tote board in Saturday's Grade 1, $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup, a Win and You're In qualifier for the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Classic in November at Keeneland.

Contested at the Classic 10-furlong distance on Saratoga Race Course's main track, Chess Chief will break from post 4 under jockey Manny Franco.

The 6-year-old son of Into Mischief was fifth in this event last year and most recently was third in the Alydar August 4 at the Spa. He closed out his 2021 campaign with a win in the Tenacious at Fair Grounds Race Course, where he has posted all five of his wins through 34 career starts and purse earnings of $894,369.

The hard-knocking Virginia-bred made the grade in March 2021 in the Grade 2 New Orleans Classic and finished sixth in his title defense this spring.

Despite being made the longest shot of 30-1 on the morning line, trainer Dallas Stewart said he is expecting his horse to run a big race.

He's a real warrior. He ran in this race last year but was coming off a bad grass race, said Stewart. This year he's had a race over the track and a couple of real good works over the main track. He galloped as fresh as a 2-year-old this morning.

Chess Chief's most recent work was at five-eighths on August 28 over the Spa main track, covering the ground in 1:01.25.

Stewart is no stranger to Grade 1 success at the Spa, including the 2017 Personal Ensign with Forever Unbridled and the 2015 Ballerina with her full-sister Unbridled Forever.

We won a couple Grade 1s here before, said Stewart. We only bring a small amount of horses, but it's just like any other race. You've got to get in there and fight it out.

It has been a long road back to top company for 2019 Grade 2 Jim Dandy winnerTax, who returned to the races from a 19-month layoff in July to score a wire-to-wire victory in the Battery Park at Delaware Park. The 6-year-old son of Arch will now try for a Grade 1 victory in Saturday's $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup going 10 furlongs for 3-year-olds and up at Saratoga Race Course.

Trained and co-owned by Danny Gargan with R.A. Hill Stable, Tax last faced Grade 1 company in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational in January 2021 at Gulfstream Park, his last race before an injury that forced his lengthy respite.

Off that big a layoff, it was so rewarding, Gargan said of the Battery Park effort. And they made him the favorite when he hadn't run in 532 days. He's a really cool horse.

Tax made a quick ascent to the graded ranks as a juvenile, graduating at second asking in a maiden claiming race at Keeneland where he was haltered by Gargan for $50,000. He followed with a third in the Grade 2 Remsen before making the grade in his sophomore debut with an off-the-pace score in the Grade 3 Withers, both at Aqueduct Racetrack. He punched his ticket to the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby with a runner-up finish to Tacitus in the Grade 2 Wood Memorial that April and subsequently finished 14th in the Run for the Roses.

Tax went on to have a prosperous second half of his 3-year-old season that included a close fourth in the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes, his determined three-quarter-length score over Tacitus in the Jim Dandy and a runner-up finish to Performer in the Grade 3 Discovery at the Big A to close out the year. As a 4-year-old, he competed in his first Pegasus World Cup and won the Grade 3 Harlan's Holiday at Gulfstream Park.

Gargan said he is excited to have Tax back in Grade 1 company.

We didn't know it would take this long, but it's pretty cool, Gargan said. It's a big step forward and he's going to have to run a big step forward, so it will be fun to see if he still has that desire to be in that kind of caliber. If he does, we'll keep doing it and if not, we'll go back and figure it out. I would love to see him hit the board.

Tax will run 10 furlongs for the first time since an even fifth-place finish in the 2019 Travers at the Spa. Gargan said the dark bay gelding, who is 3-for-3 going 1 1/16 miles, may be at his distance limits in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, but that his class will carry him when he exits the inside post under Kendrick Carmouche.

He'll be on the lead and hopefully he runs big. We'll break out of that one hole running, said Gargan. The only thing that worries me is that the mile and a quarter might not be his best distance. It's funny to say this, but he's undefeated at a mile and a sixteenth. But he ran good in the Belmont. There were a couple different options here, but we waited on this race and we'll see how it goes. He likes this track and he's a happy horse.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. Though their names are similar and they have trainer Mark Casse in common, Wonder Gadot (Medaglia d'Oro) and Wonder Wheel (Into Mischief) are not related, except, possibly, in ability.

Wonder Gadot, a two-time champion and 2018 Horse of the Year in Canada, is named for the Israeli actress, Gal Gadot, who gained international attention in the 2017 film Wonder Woman. Wonder Wheel, the unbeaten filly who will run in the GI Spinaway S. Sunday, is named for the very famous 102-year-old, 150-foot Ferris wheel at Coney Island, N.Y.

Wonder Wheel has spent the summer at Saratoga prepping for the historic Spinaway, the first Grade I of the season in the U.S. for 2-year-olds. She won both her starts at Churchill Downs earlier in the summer. Casse said he never considered entering her in the GIII Schuylerville S. or the GIII Adirondack S., the Saratoga filly stakes that typically are stepping stones to the Spinaway. There will be 60 days between her starts.

That was by plan. You can't run them all, Casse said. We ran her and then she won the stake at Churchill. So, it was by design.

In her debut June 3 at 5 1/2 furlongs, Wonder Wheel came from off the pace for a 2 1/4-length victory. On July 4 in the Debutante S., she quickly seized the lead and ran away from the others to score by 6 3/4 lengths, covering the six furlongs in 1:10.26.

Casse said the performances by the D. J. Stable filly in Kentucky were not a surprise.

She showed us a lot before she even ran, he said. I thought her first two races have been impressive. And then even since coming back here she's trained tremendous. She reminds me, and you don't have them come around that often, of the Wonder Gadots, the Classic Empires (Pioneerof the Nile), the War of Wills (War Front).

That is a serious statement from a Hall of Fame trainer, comparing Wonder Wheel to three of his recent stars. Wonder Gadot and Classic Empire were champions and War of Will was the rare winner of Grade I races on dirt and turf: the Preakness S. and the Maker's Mark Mile S.

Yeah, I know, Casse said, and I worry about that a little bit, saying that with only two starts. But that's what she's shown me.

Wonder Wheel was on a short list of prospects developed by a bloodstock advisor for Casse at the Keeneland September 2021 yearling sale.

Then I go around and pick and one of the things that intrigued me about her was she reminds me of [MSW & GISP] Make Mischief, and that was by Into Mischief, Casse said. They had this similar build and similar look. That was one of the things and I was like, 'Yeah, I like this filly.' So we bought her. Obviously, she is expensive at $275,000, but not for an Into Mischief.

Make Mischief, a New York-bred, was a seven-time winner, who had five graded stakes placings.

Wonder Wheel has worked five times at Saratoga. She turned in a bullet five-furlongbest of 34breeze in :59.40 on Aug. 19 and got a half-mile in :48.87 on Aug. 26.

Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez will be up for the Spinaway, replacing Tyler Gaffalione, who will be riding at Kentucky Downs.

Casse said he has not second-guessed his decision to give Wonder Wheel a long stretch between races.

I'm going to be nervous, he said, because when you think you have a good one, you get nervous.

Six years ago, Casse used a similar approach with Classic Empire, who broke his maiden May 4, won the GIII Bashford Manor S. July 2 and began his fall campaign in the GI Hopeful S. Sept. 5.

Of course, it didn't work so well with Classic Empire because he made a right-hand turn coming out in the Hopeful, Casse said, smiling, but I purposely gave her some time.

Classic Empire, the 8-5 favorite, wheeled at the start and dropped Irad Ortiz, Jr. He went on to win the GI Claiborne Breeders' Futurity and the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile and was voted the 2-year-old male champion.

My plan is if all things go well, she goes there, she goes to the [GI] Alcibiades and she goes to the Breeders' Cup, Casse said. That would be five starts and that's plenty. I'm a chess player.
